I recently had a wonderful stay at a charming ryokan nestled within a temple complex. the location of this ryokan, just a stone's throw away from the Zenkou-Ji temple, was simply amazing. the staff were incredibly helpful and made me feel welcome throughout my stay. I particularly enjoyed the traditional evening meal and breakfast, which I wholeheartedly recommend to all guests. And if you happen to come across the nearby vendor selling apple and custard turnovers, don't miss out on trying them - they are absolutely delicious!

The owners were amazing! So sweet and kind, very warm welcome. The room was really traditional and I loved the traditional clothing as well for me to try! The staff were great. It was really cold and snowing and every time we went out one of the staff would put a heat pad on each of us to keep us warm. Also left our credit card at the front office when we left which they quickly organized to post to our Tokyo hotel. The ryokan is only steps away from Zenko-Ji temple and thus very convenient to go to the monks procession and chanting at 5:30 am. We had a traditional Japanese room and it was a nice experience. Also enjoyed the public bath house in the ryokan. A bus from the train station took about 50 minutes to get to the beginning of the 2 km walk up to the snow monkeys park. There are a few food places and restrooms.

The value for money at this ryokan was excellent, with cozy and warm rooms that provided a true Japanese experience. The location was fantastic, with shops and the Zenko-ji temple just a short walk away. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable.

I was astounded by the location of the ryokan, situated right in front of the temple. It offered a superb view of the main hall of Zenko-ji temple, which was just a short walk away. The room was clean and tidy, with a private bathroom that was decent in size. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.

The public bath onsen was quite small.

Loved the traditional Japanese experience, especially the cozy futons and delicious breakfast. The staff were so helpful, even doing our laundry. Only downside was the onsen, with its "charming" tiny bathtub and not-so-private dressing area. Oops, could've used a bigger door curtain!

We were also impressed by the prime location, just a stone's throw away from a beautiful temple. Despite a few minor drawbacks, like a shared bathroom and thin walls, our overall experience was excellent. We highly recommend this ryokan for a memorable stay in Nagano. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful traditional Japanese experience staying at a charming ryokan. the onsen and sleeping on futon/tatami mats were highlights of our stay. We loved the breakfast and dinner, which were served in typical Japanese ryokan style and made with fresh ingredients. the location was perfect, with shops and a beautiful temple just minutes away. We were fortunate enough to experience a snow-covered landscape, adding to the beauty of our stay. Our gratitude goes to our friendly and professional host, Mr Suzuki-san, and the staff at the ryokan for providing us with a memorable time. the recently refurbished room was comfortable, and the smell of cedar wood was refreshing. this ryokan was the best accommodation of our three-week trip.

We had an amazing stay at a ryokan near an old Japanese temple. the staff, including a helpful young lady at check-in and a generous mature gentleman at check-out, made us feel at home. the building had a magical vibe, and though it was old, it added to the charm. the location was perfect for exploring the temple street and nearby shops. the tatami-style rooms were comfortable, and the attached bathroom was a plus. the staff, despite our language barrier, were understanding and accommodating, especially when it came to our fussy baby. the included breakfast and dinner were outstanding and delicious every day. it was a great value for an authentic ryokan experience.

The location of this hotel was outstanding, as it was just minutes away from the Temple and situated on a lovely pedestrian street. The proximity to the Temple made it convenient for me to attend the morning ceremony. Additionally, there were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, providing an opportunity to explore the local area. The staff at this hotel were genuine and helpful, providing excellent service throughout my stay.

The breakfast was amazing, filling and perfect to fuel up for a day of sightseeing. the staff were delightful, always eager to help and made us feel at home. the hotel's location was superb, nestled in a beautiful cobbled street near a striking place of worship. the amenities, including the communal bath, were spotlessly clean and had an ideal ambiance.

While we appreciated the traditional Japanese room, we didn't like that there was no lamp in the bedroom area, and the bathroom lights were either on or off. the hotel was hard to find due to an incorrect location on Google Maps, but once located, the walk was a bit challenging with luggage.

Spacious family room with 2 baths, 2 floors, and twin beds. Helpful staff. Lovely food with half-board option. Perfect location for exploring nearby mountain area and snow monkey resort.

We had a fantastic stay at this ryokan. The location was one of the best aspects, as it was right in the heart of the historic temple walk. We loved being able to step out from the ryokan and easily access the temple ceremonies early in the morning or enjoy late night walks. The hotel facilities were excellent, with a beautiful traditional building and comfortable rooms. The cleanliness was top-notch, and we especially enjoyed the public bath after a long day of exploring. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable.

I recently stayed at a traditional Ryokan, just a stone's throw away from the beautiful Zenko-ji Temple. The staff members were kind and welcoming, allowing us to check in early. The breakfast was tasty and traditional, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The ladies' bath was a good size and very hot. The location was fantastic, right on the main walking street, and the futon was comfortable. it was a great experience.

Based on my stay at this hotel, I would be happy to recommend it.
