The location was perfect, close to main roads for convenient exploring of the Lake District. The staff at the inn were extremely friendly and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable.

We had a lovely stay at a rustic pub with modern improvements. Our room, although a bit small, was comfortable and clean. the en suite bathroom was also a bit small, but it served its purpose. Jackie, our host, was friendly and incredibly helpful. the restaurant had a creative menu with well-presented dishes, and the food was delicious. We also enjoyed freshly-cooked and tasty breakfasts. the WIFI worked well, and there were plenty of parking spaces available.

The spacious and modern Room 7 had a very comfortable king-size bed.

Celebrated the New Year here. the bar area and dining room had plenty of character, and the food was decent. I appreciated the location, as it was close to several attractions. the staff was friendly and we enjoyed the log fire.

our short break at the black swan in penrith was exceptional. the comfortable room, outstanding dinners, and packed lunch for our walk exceeded expectations. the surrounding sites, like the stone circle at little salkeld, added to the overall experience. highly recommend this hotel as a base for exploring the north pennines.

Just Perfect. We booked at the last minute and were greeted by a polite and courteous staff member who carried our bags and explained everything. The dinner was excellent, with great food and good value. The bed was really comfortable with a nice selection of drinks in the room. Breakfast was gorgeous, especially the fantastic coffee. If we are in the area again, we will definitely book here.
