The location of the hotel was also a major plus, as it was conveniently located near all the attractions and points of interest in the city.

One downside was that the vintage-style saloon advertised in the hotel's photo gallery was not functioning as a bar but instead served as a breakfast room. This was a bit disappointing as I was looking forward to experiencing the unique atmosphere of a historic saloon.

I recently stayed at the charming Historic Anchorage Hotel for 4 nights during my visit to Alaska. The hotel's collection of historical pictures and Alaskana added a unique touch to my stay. I loved the cute bar and finding a stuffed bear in the back. The facilities, although old, were clean and well-maintained. My room on the south side offered a direct view of the Iditarod, which was a delightful surprise. The bathroom had hooks to hang wet towels, and the deep bathtub was perfect for a relaxing soak. The TV had lots of channels, and the comfortable business chair and desk were great for getting work done. The pretty curtains and comfortable bed added to the overall pleasant experience. The friendly and helpful staff made me feel welcome throughout my stay. The breakfast served in the bar was decent, comparable to other hotels. The hotel also offered a convenient drive-up service for dropping off luggage. They sold parking passes for a nearby lot, making it easy to find parking. I was very satisfied with my stay at this cool old hotel and would definitely stay here again.
