I had a fantastic stay at this hotel by the river. The location was amazing, with windows overlooking the famous Edmund Pettus Bridge. The old charm of the hotel, with its beautiful floors, fireplaces, and high ceilings, truly added to the experience. The staff were very friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome throughout my stay. I also appreciated the basic amenities provided, such as the friendly service and a delicious breakfast. All in all, great value for money.

The hotel's attention to detail could be improved.

The St. James Hotel is ideally located for exploring Selma's historic sites. The hotel itself is a historic character building that adds to the overall experience. The suite upgrade with river views was worth the money if your budget allows. The evening meal at the hotel was brilliant. The staff, though inexperienced in running a hotel, were friendly and accommodating. The hotel's antiquity and walking distance to all Selma sites were fantastic.

During our stay, I was impressed by the stunning view of the Pettus Bridge and Alabama River from our room. The interior courtyard was absolutely beautiful, and the hotel's rich history added to its charm. The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable, and the towels provided were of excellent quality. The brass fixtures in the bathroom added an elegant touch, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Despite a few minor inconveniences, the exceptional location and the attentive and friendly staff made our stay memorable.
