I had a fantastic stay at this charming little motel. the owner was incredibly kind, especially when I mistakenly booked the wrong dates. she helped sort everything out without hesitation, even though it was late. the rooms were clean and tidy, and the food served was delicious with generous portions.

Couldn’t find a single fault! 😊.

Our recent stay was a delightful stopover during our move to Port Douglas, lasting just one night. We were welcomed warmly by Kathryn, the engaging publican, who ensured our comfort throughout. the massive portions of food were not only tasty but also incredibly affordable. Our room was clean and cozy, with luxurious sheets and towels, plus delicious biscuits waiting for us. It truly felt like a home away from home.

I had a really good experience here! the staff were super friendly and went above and beyond to help us settle in, even though we arrived late. the room was comfy, and the housekeeping was on point. There’s a nice lounge area to relax, and the restaurant offered some good meals. It’s located close to the railway station yet feels a bit secluded, giving that lovely outback vibe.

That said, the bathroom could use a little TLC. the showerhead didn’t quite stay in place, which made showering a bit tricky.

During our brief stopover on a long road trip, the helpfulness of the owner really stood out. The meals were delightful, and the service was pleasant when picking them up. it was a decent place to rest on our journey.

The pool was totally lit, and the nearby skate park had us showing off our skills! Plus, the staff were super chill and made us feel right at home. Can’t miss mentioning the awesome doggo walks around too! One thing I’d definitely ask for is a better hangout spot or some late-night activities for us party-loving teens. A place to vibe out would make this place even more epic!

We were several hours late due to GPS issues, but the lovely owners helped us access our room after hours. the bed was comfy, the heating was excellent, and the meals were great. I’d recommend this place!

The room was comfy and cozy, with a nice patio to relax on. the bed felt like a warm hug after a long day, and having a fridge was handy for snacks. the flat-screen TV was a bonus for unwinding. Just felt right, especially after a tiring road trip.

The decor felt a bit dated, but some might find that charming.

the clothes-hanging area had adequate space, and the room itself was neat and tidy, with comfortable beds that made for a good night's sleep. the staff were incredibly friendly and provided excellent service, especially during breakfast when I enjoyed a hearty meal to start my day.

The overall decor and facilities seemed to be in dire need of renovations, which detracted from the experience.

The room had a bit of age to it, and some maintenance is needed, but Kathryn and her family made it a warm, welcoming experience. With gigantic meal portions and a pet-friendly atmosphere, it was perfect for resting up, although the cleanliness in some areas could improve. Absolutely recommend this pub/motel!

I recently stopped by this little pub/motel on my way to Port Douglas, and I’ve gotta say, it was quite an adventure! So, I rolled in pretty late after a gnarly GPS detour that had me wandering. When I finally got to the place, it was nearly pitch dark and took a minute to find because there were no street lights. Note to self: always check the map before heading out! The owner, Kathryn, really saved the day. It’s refreshing to see a female publican, and she was just so friendly. You could tell she genuinely cared about her guests. The heating in my room was on point—thank goodness because it was freezing outside! I also had hot water whenever I needed it, which is always a plus. The room itself? Yeah, it was pretty dated. The furniture could definitely use some TLC, and there were some bits like a flaky door lock and cracks in the wall that surprised me, considering the price I paid. But the bed? Super comfy with nice sheets! The bathroom left a bit to be desired, though… The shower head didn’t stay up right, and there were some plumbing issues. It definitely could've been cleaned better—finding a mouse hole in the corner wasn’t exactly great. And I did notice the bathroom smelled a bit funky. Mosquitos buzzing around didn’t help that either! Now, they serve food here, and let me tell you—the portions are gigantic and the prices are reasonable! I was pretty impressed with that, but the quality? It didn’t quite hit the mark. I wish I could say it was all good, but I was hoping for a bit more in that department. Oh! And another little thing I can’t forget—when I got there, the room was a sauna! I would have loved it if the air conditioning had been turned on before I showed up. It took a while for the place to cool down, which was rough after a long day of driving. They also mentioned having some sort of room service, but I didn’t get a chance to try it out. Housekeeping was fine, even though things didn’t feel super sparkly clean. And as for entertainment, there was a flat-screen TV tucked away in the corner, so that was a nice little distraction. All in all, while there were definitely some areas needing improvements, like the cleanliness and maintenance, the warmth of Kathryn and the hearty meals kind of balanced it out for me. It was an alright stopover, just keep your expectations in check!

I love staying here! the staff even returned my forgotten earphones during my first visit. It has everything I need: free parking, Wi-Fi, and a great restaurant. I keep coming back for city trips, and I never regret it!
