We had a fantastic stay at Great Wall Box House! the renovated house had a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. the staff, Mr Song and Jim, were incredibly friendly and helpful, providing us with excellent English-speaking assistance. They were knowledgeable about the hiking opportunities in the area and gave us great recommendations for tours. Plus, the hostel had five adorable cats that added an extra charm to our stay. the rooms were clean, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. We especially loved the heated floors and the beautiful view of the Great Wall from the property. the location was perfect for exploring the Great Wall, away from the crowds, and the delicious dinners and noodle breakfasts provided were a wonderful treat.

We had an amazing experience staying at the Great Wall Box House. the hosts were wonderfully warm and friendly, and we were even picked up from Beijing by the amazing Mr Li! the location of the hotel is perfect, as it is closest to the best section of the Great Wall at Jinshanling. We loved being able to see the wall from our rooms, and there was even an untouched ancient section just meters away. the honesty system for beers from the fridge was a unique touch that we appreciated. the little town of Gubeikou was charming, and we enjoyed delicious meals at both Gubeikou town and Gubeikou village. the highlight of our stay was definitely the cats in the courtyard. a fantastic experience.

Despite a few minor drawbacks, overall I highly recommend this hotel for a peaceful and adventurous getaway.
