Inge, the host, was kind and accommodating, making sure we were happy. The tours offered were amazing, especially the bioluminescent plankton and snorkeling with sharks and eels. The cleanliness and quiet location were also appreciated.

The rooms at El Gecko Hotel are basic but clean, with wooden walls and equipped with a fan and mosquito screen in the window. The bathroom is good, with a cold shower. The kitchen is well-equipped and there is a common area with chairs and tables. The owners are very nice and helpful, offering their own tours. The hotel is not in the center of the village, but it's only a 10-15 minute walk or a short drive.

I had a wonderful stay at El Gecko Hotel. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a private bathroom. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony, overlooking the rustic grounds and listening to the sounds of the jungle. The owner was welcoming and made me a cup of coffee in the morning. I even had the incredible opportunity to see a flock of scarlet macaws right from my balcony! The location was convenient, with restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The highlight of my stay was the bioluminescent algae tour, which was a truly unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this hotel for a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

We got excellent value for our money at El Gecko Hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a lovely private balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds. The location was peaceful and surrounded by nature, and the staff, especially the owner Inge, were incredibly kind and accommodating, making sure we had a great experience.

The only area for improvement would be the breakfast offerings. It would have been helpful if the requirement to request breakfast the night before was communicated clearly, as we only found out about it after multiple inquiries.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The room was beautiful and clean, and the family who owns it were so friendly and welcoming. The kitchen and sitting areas were also great additions. I loved that the hotel was close to the ferry and located on the Nicoya peninsula, making it convenient for transportation and exploring the nearby restaurants and beach. The staff did a great job, and the breakfast was delicious.

Incredible wildlife and nature: We were surrounded by beautiful wildlife, with red macaws, birds, iguanas, and geckos filling the garden. It was like staying in a mini jungle!

Noisy surroundings: Unfortunately, there were some disturbances during our stay. We could hear motorcycles passing by, which took away from the tranquility of the location.

our stay at el gecko was truly exceptional. the owners, juan and inge, were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. the tours they offer, like the bioluminescence and turtle tours, were absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. the accommodation was cozy and clean, making us feel right at home.

No car made it difficult to get around.

We stayed at a lovely hotel in Paquera, where everything exceeded our expectations. El Gecko Hotel & Tours provided us with a clean and spacious room, along with a private bathroom. the owner greeted us warmly and made us a delicious cup of coffee. From our balcony, we enjoyed the beautiful sounds of howler monkeys and jungle birds. We even had the pleasure of spotting a flock of scarlet macaws. the hotel's location allowed us to easily explore the surrounding area, including the Curu Wildlife Refuge, which we highly recommend visiting.

Our stay at El Gecko Hotel was great! Inge, the owner, was incredibly sweet and had great tips for our first day. The rooms were clean, basic but nicely built with wooden walls. The kitchen was very clean and well-equipped. Inge and her husband offer tours which we did and they were amazing! We highly recommend checking out the bioluminescent plankton and the snorkeling tour. The area is quiet and peaceful, with the occasional iguanas and sweet dogs.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.
