We had an amazing time at this hidden gem in the Cretan mountains. The location down to the reservoir allowed us to enjoy beautiful views while cantering on horseback. The relaxed atmosphere and stunning surroundings were perfect for mountain enthusiasts like us. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the service was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. We also loved the fact that the hotel offered horseback riding adventures and even had a cooking lesson with the chef.

The lack of wifi in the rooms was a bit disappointing.

During my stay at Country Hotel Velani, I was amazed by the excellent hosts, food, and views. The highlight of my visit was learning about the rich history of olive oil in Crete. I had the pleasure of talking to Manolis, who shared his childhood experiences of helping his father harvest olives. It truly brought to life the deep love and appreciation Greeks have for olives and olive oil.

Although I didn't have the opportunity to try horse riding during my stay, exploring the surrounding valley made me eager to come back and give it a go. Just a friendly word of warning, make sure to practice a bit before embarking on longer trips.

The view was breathtaking, especially during dinner. the food was excellent with a varied menu, including local specialties. the pool was clean and offered a nice place to relax in the sunshine. the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome.

The road leading to the hotel was winding and narrow, making it difficult to drive to. the room was a bit outdated, with some furnishings showing signs of wear and tear.
