Breakfast selection was impressive, especially the pastries!

absolutely a cute little hotel if you enjoy haphazard decor! my bed was so hard, I nearly woke up in tears. and, of course, a cramped shower was such a delightful touch! it would’ve been nice to receive a complimentary room upgrade for my suffering. almost left a nice review, but just couldn’t! woudl ve been too generous.

I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere at Hotel Rex. The owner, at 101 years old, still takes pride in the family-run hotel, which added a personal touch. The breakfast was varied with delightful pastries, and I loved my spacious and clean room that overlooked the City Walls.

On the downside, the shower was a bit cramped, and the towels could use more thickness. Wifi connection was spotty at times, which can be frustrating for planning daily activities.

The hotel is conveniently located just outside the city walls, making it an easy five-minute walk to the Porta San Pietro for exploring the historic center. I also appreciate the free parking available right outside, which is ideal for those traveling by car. The spacious room offered all the comforts we needed, including a clean en-suite bathroom and a delightful view.

The roadworks outside could be distracting during daytime hours.

The breakfast was a highlight, with a generous selection of delicious pastries and excellent coffee made by the lovely staff member each morning.

The decor in the common areas felt quite cluttered, which detracted from the overall ambiance of the hotel.

Location is fab, just a hop from the train station. The room was spacious with a useful fridge, and the parking was a breeze, even with road works. Such a lively area to explore!

The bathroom felt like a game of Tetris—squeezed in! And I think I left the shower area for underwater exploration—it definitely needed more space.

Great AC and super friendly staff. Limited English TV channels and shower entrance was tight.

The decor feels rather dated and scattered throughout the hotel!!! Poor air conditioning during the summer is a definite downside!!! Wi-Fi connectivity issues were frustrating, and the complicated light switches were more annoying than helpful!!!

Excellent location near the train station and just a short walk to the walled city! The staff were so friendly and accommodating, helping us with transport arrangements after we discovered a train strike. Breakfast offered delightful cappuccinos! ☕

I loved that it was just a few steps from the train station and so close to the city walls of historic Lucca, making it super convenient for my weekend strolls through the city. The breakfast offered a fantastic variety of healthy choices, which helped fuel my adventures each morning.

the staff at rex were exceptionally friendly and attentive! breakfast options were plentiful and the accommodating nature really set us up for the day. excellent location just outside the city walls and close to the train station.

The location near the train station offers extremely convenient access for day trips, and the en-suite bathroom was spotless, complete with quality towels and toiletries. Breakfast included delightful homemade dishes and a superb variety of options, making mornings enjoyable. Despite the bustling surroundings, the hotel maintained a tranquil atmosphere, allowing for a restful stay.

We loved our stay in the Quadruple Room, which was super spacious and even had a balcony! There were fun toys for the kids, and breakfast was a feast with plenty of choices like croissants and yogurt. The decor could use a modern touch, but it didn't take away from our overall experience—definitely try their cappuccino in the morning! 😊
