During our romantic escape to the mountains, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at a large hotel located just outside Takayama. Our room was spacious with great views of the surrounding landscape and mountains. We enjoyed the large onsen with multiple pools and outdoor spaces. the breakfast buffet had a good variety of options and the seating was comfortable.

The location was quite far from town and required a car or shuttle for access which made it difficult to explore Takayama's historic areas. the hotel is quite dated in its overall decor and amenities which detracted from the experience.

The onsen in the spa wing is a must-try experience. We enjoyed the cleanliness and relaxation it offered, especially as someone who values cleanliness in public facilities. I highly recommend staying at Associa Takayama Resort.
