The family-run ryokan has friendly staff who provided excellent service. They offered a ride to/from the train station. Delicious meals were served and the onsen overlooks a calm river. A great escape from the busy city.

They served traditional Japanese cuisine and even taught us how to make the mushroom soup. the room was spacious and well-furnished, and could easily accommodate a large group. the onsen facilities were great, with both indoor and outdoor pools. Additionally, the host was very accommodating and provided transportation to and from the train station.

One downside was that there was only one train running per hour, so if you missed it, it could disrupt your travel plans. Another disadvantage was that the location of the ryokan was rural, making it difficult to reach the tourist sights.

I had a great stay at this hotel beside the river which had a pretty view. The staff were super friendly and prepared English explanations for foreign guests like myself. The traditional Japanese room gave me a nice Japanese feeling and the breakfast and dinner were carefully prepared and delicious. I arrived at Kagoiwa Onsen Ryokan after dinner, but they kindly kept my meal warm and greeted me warmly upon arrival. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, with English translations provided. The traditional Japanese room gave me a true Japanese experience. The onsen overlooking the river valley was a serene and relaxing experience. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I highly recommend this hotel for a memorable and authentic Japanese experience.
