We had an incredible experience at Takasegawa Bettei. the staff, led by Kasumi, were absolutely fantastic. the hotel is conveniently located, just a few stops away from the central area of Kyoto, and there are plenty of eateries nearby. the rooms were spacious and immaculate, with modern amenities such as a fridge, microwave, and even a Nespresso machine. We particularly enjoyed the traditional Cyprus bathtub and the delicious breakfast that was delivered to our room. the staff spoke excellent English and were very accommodating. the blend of antique and contemporary elements in the hotel's design added to its charm. this was our favorite hotel in all of Japan!

This hotel exceeded all my expectations! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the attention to detail in the room was outstanding – from the pine styled bathroom to the comfortable western bed. The hotel is located in a peaceful and traditional area, allowing for a perfect night's sleep. I also loved the breakfast - a great start to the day! Detail: I really appreciated the Japanese authentic flavor, such as with the tatami mats and beautiful robes provided by the hotel.

The complimentary breakfast was nice, and the staff was friendly. the hotel was located in a great spot, just a short walk from all the action. One thing that stood out was the size of the room, it was bigger than expected.

The price of the room was much higher than we had hoped for, and it didn't come with all the amenities we would have liked. the pillows were either too thick or too thin, so we didn't sleep very well.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a great view of the back yard garden. The shower and bath experience was enjoyable. The staff were kind and accommodating, and the hotel's laundry service was excellent.

Tucked away on a quiet riverbank, this charming hotel serves as a perfect base for exploring Japan's ancient capital. Guests can stroll to a lovely little cafe around the corner or hop on a nearby train to visit surrounding tourist hot spots. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with comfortable bedding and traditional touches like cypress tubs and tatami floors. Attentive staff members are always on hand, ready to make each guest's stay exceptional. Breakfast options offer a mix of western and Japanese fare to suit all tastes, and there are lots of thoughtful touches, like an in-room Nespresso machine and shoe drying machine.

The hotel staff's English proficiency may be limited, but their dedication to excellent service more than makes up for any communication barriers.

My room was surprisingly spacious and had a beautiful cedar tub, which was worth the wait to fill. The Japanese-style breakfast was amazing. The staff was super helpful and accommodating, even calling to make a restaurant reservation for me. The peaceful neighborhood was perfect for exploring and had great craft beer nearby. I would highly recommend this ryokan for a relaxing stay.

the staff, while there was a language barrier, were incredibly nice and helpful. the bathroom with the Japanese wooden bath was so relaxing, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. the hotel's location was perfect - quiet and away from crowds, but still within walking distance of the main tourist areas. Highly recommend.

It was also a short walk to popular attractions like Kyoto Tower and the train station. I was impressed by the high-end amenities, including a luxurious Cypress bathtub and a delicious breakfast spread. the hotel staff even provided shoe drying devices when we came in wet from the rain. it was an unforgettable experience.

We had a wonderful stay at a hotel in Kyoto called Takasegawa Bettei. The breakfast was delicious and they offered room service. Our room was spacious and the shower/bath area had great water pressure. The hotel had a unique blend of antique and contemporary style, with the staff wearing traditional kimonos and the cleaning crew in traditional clothes. The location was beautiful and the wooden bathroom was truly amazing. The staff were friendly, fluent in English, and even helped us communicate with another hotel. They accommodated our vegetarian request for breakfast. The location was quiet and the bus stop was close by. The traditional Japanese room provided a comfortable and authentic experience.

We loved the new bar options nearby, like Beer Lab and Kyoto Craft. For vegetarians or vegans, Veg Out restaurant and cafe was just around the corner. the staff were always polite and helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious, both the Western and Japanese styles. the wooden cedar bath was a highlight, especially after a long day exploring Kyoto. We also enjoyed walking along the beautiful river nearby, where we discovered hidden local cafes.
