We had a truly traditional Japanese experience at Motoyu Ishiya. The ambience was serene, like stepping into another time. The location on a hillside was perfect for a quiet and romantic retreat. The food served in a private dining setting was exquisite, although not for the uninitiated to high end Japanese cuisine. The Noh theatre stage added to the authenticity of the experience. We also enjoyed the onsen, which we had to ourselves for a good half an hour. we had an unforgettable and unique stay at Motoyu Ishiya.

One of the highlights of my stay was the hot spring bath, which provided ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation. Beautiful traditional experience with delicious local food and refreshing onsen. the staff was extremely kind and attentive, making us feel welcome during our romantic escape. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the stunning gardens. Plus, the kaga cuisine was a reflection of the surrounding area, serving unique mountain vegetables, wild duck, and boar.

The location was out of the way, making it difficult to explore the surrounding area. Transportation was limited, and there were no food options nearby.

The building of Motoyu Ishiya is beautiful with magical views. the onsen experience is out of this world, especially with the snowy garden views. the staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly, making guests feel comfortable and cared for. the traditional room adds to the unique experience, and the ryokan is filled with interesting artifacts to explore. a truly memorable and fantastic Japanese experience.
