We had a truly traditional Japanese experience at Motoyu Ishiya. The ambience was serene, like stepping into another time. The location on a hillside was perfect for a quiet and romantic retreat. The food served in a private dining setting was exquisite, although not for the uninitiated to high end Japanese cuisine. The Noh theatre stage added to the authenticity of the experience. We also enjoyed the onsen, which we had to ourselves for a good half an hour. we had an unforgettable and unique stay at Motoyu Ishiya.

I had the most wonderful experience at this hotel. The location towards the mountains provided a serene and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. The service and housekeeping were top-notch, ensuring that everything was clean and taken care of. I was also delighted to receive a welcome drink upon arrival, which added a personal touch to my stay. The room amenities were excellent, with features such as heating and air conditioning, a cozy sitting area, and an in-room safe for my valuables. The towels provided were plush and the free toiletries were of high quality. I also appreciated the electric kettle in the room, allowing me to enjoy a warm cup of tea. The peacefulness of the surroundings, stunning architecture, and attentive staff at Motoyu Ishiya made it an exceptional experience. Beautiful traditional experience with delicious local food and refreshing onsen. the staff was extremely kind and attentive, making us feel welcome during our romantic escape. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the stunning gardens. Plus, the kaga cuisine was a reflection of the surrounding area, serving unique mountain vegetables, wild duck, and boar.

The location was out of the way, making it difficult to explore the surrounding area. Transportation was limited, and there were no food options nearby.

The building of Motoyu Ishiya is beautiful with magical views. the onsen experience is out of this world, especially with the snowy garden views. the staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly, making guests feel comfortable and cared for. the traditional room adds to the unique experience, and the ryokan is filled with interesting artifacts to explore. a truly memorable and fantastic Japanese experience.
