Located close to Otaru-Minami train station and the main commercial street. Charming common and reading areas. Friendly hosts who offer sushi and yuzu. Delicious breakfast showcasing Japanese homemade cuisine. Comfortable beds and a warm atmosphere.

I had the best time at this hostel! The staff made me feel so welcome and warm. They even helped me clean up my kitchen waste, which was really kind of them. The location is fantastic, as it is really close to the main downtown attractions, the shrine with a beautiful view of the city, and the canals. Plus, I loved the fact that I could easily walk to these places within 15 minutes. The breakfast was also incredibly good, showcasing homemade Japanese cuisine. And the staff spoke great English, which was a pleasant surprise in Japan.

The location of the hostel is great as it is near the shrine with a beautiful view of the city. It is also really close to the main downtown attractions, which means you can easily walk to the canals and explore the area within 15 minutes. The rooms are comfortable and the service provided by the friendly and helpful staff is excellent. the common area is cozy and filled with manga, providing a unique atmosphere for guests.

One downside is that the hostel is a bit of a walk from the JR station.

The location of this hostel was excellent. We were able to easily walk to all the main attractions and restaurants in the area. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed the cozy common area. We were excited to find out that breakfast was included, and it was delicious! The homemade bread was especially amazing.

While we appreciated the privacy curtains on the bunk beds, we found that they were too short and did not provide enough privacy. We also would have liked more locker space to securely store our belongings. Additionally, some of the decor and amenities were a bit outdated.

The hostel was incredibly cozy and homey, with cute decorations and a friendly dog and cat. The hosts were kind and even offered us food when we were sick. The breakfast was delicious and showcased homemade Japanese cuisine. The beds were comfortable and the hostel had everything we needed, including board games and manga.

The common area at Otaornai Backpacker's Hostel Morinoki is cozy and filled with interesting knick knacks and antiques. It's the perfect place to curl up with a coffee and a good book after exploring Otaru. The serene atmosphere and laid-back vibe make it feel like a home away from home. The staff is kind and relaxed, creating a welcoming environment. Plus, the breakfast and drip coffee are amazing and offered at a very reasonable price. Not to mention, the adorable corgi named Hug adds an extra touch of warmth and happiness. I highly recommend this hostel for a relaxed and enjoyable stay in Otaru.

Had an amazing time during my Christmas stay at this hostel! the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They made me feel at home right away. the cozy atmosphere and abundance of manga made it the perfect spot to spend a rainy day. Located near a beautiful shrine with a stunning view of the city. the advice to get off at the Otaru station instead of Minami-Otaru was spot-on, saving me from having to navigate a hilly path with my big suitcase.

The curtains on the beds were a bit short, not offering complete privacy or blocking out all the light. It would have been nice to have some locker boxes for added security.

I felt like I was stepping into a storybook when I arrived at this charming hostel. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Hug, the adorable corgi, and instantly felt at home. The hostel is filled with manga, magazines, board games, and quirky decorations that added so much character to the place. It truly felt like a place with a lot of stories to tell.
