Oyado Yamakyu exceeded all my expectations and ranks as one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. the traditional Japanese ambiance was beautifully presented and exactly what I had hoped for. the spacious rooms provided comfort and the readily available hot springs were a delightful way to relax. the highlight, however, was the delicious and unique meals served. the breakfast and dinners felt like a feast at a high-end restaurant, and it was definitely one of the best dining experiences I had during my trip to Japan.

I recently stayed at a charming ryokan in Gifu and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. the value for money was exceptional. The prices for the meals were very reasonable, considering the quality and taste. I was especially impressed with the beautiful presentation of the food - it was like a work of art! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, providing excellent service throughout my stay. The rooms, although not large, were cozy and clean. I particularly liked that my room was on the second floor and overlooked a pretty garden, giving me a sense of peace and tranquility. The traditional Japanese futon bed provided a comfortable night's sleep with enough privacy. Finally, the breakfast offered a mix of traditional Japanese dishes and some western items, which was a pleasant surprise for me as an American.

The lack of modern amenities in the rooms was a downside, as there was only a sink and toilet. The separate shower on a different floor was inconvenient.

Additionally, it is close to the shopping area, making it convenient for guests to explore the local shops and attractions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, providing a relaxing atmosphere for a good night's sleep. The staff is friendly and accommodating, providing excellent service throughout the stay. Moreover, the breakfast and dinner served at the hotel are delicious and reasonably priced, offering a variety of delectable dishes. The hotel also provides complimentary shuttle service, adding to the convenience for guests.

While the outdoor onsen areas are small and limited in size, this can be overlooked considering the other positive aspects of the hotel.

The hotel staff went above and beyond, driving me to the hospital and assisting with interpretation during my illness. The hotel accommodated my requests for rest and food. The breakfast was copious and the dinner was excellent. The location was close to the temple area and directly next to fabulous shrines. The hotel provided a reliable pick-up service from the station.

We especially loved the onsen, even though it was quite hot outside. The tranquility of the place ensured a peaceful night's sleep, and the food served was outstanding. Although our children found the Japanese breakfast a bit challenging, it was definitely an unforgettable experience. This hotel will be one of our favorite memories of Japan.

I was devastated to find out they didn't have a red carpet leading me to my room like I expected. So disappointing.

The location of the hotel was very convenient, as it was just a short 5-10 minute walk to the center, allowing easy access to the shrines and traditional townscape with its charming cherry blossom-filled shrines and canals. The room, with its traditional Japanese style and view of a beautiful garden, was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast provided a wonderful array of food, with a mix of Japanese and western options.

All was perfect during my stay at this hotel.
