Beautiful surroundings and peaceful ambiance make for a great escape from the city. Large and spacious rooms with traditional decor and Japanese amenities. Natural hot springs available to soothe and relax you.

The lack of facilities is overall disappointing. the distance is a bit far from the city, and the food options are very limited and not suitable for western taste.

The staff at Ueyama Ryokan were incredibly helpful when we arrived. They immediately arranged for us to use the private family bath to accommodate my tattoo. The dinner was beautifully presented and the Japanese cuisine was delicious. The autumn leaves in the garden added to the serene atmosphere. Our room overlooked a picturesque pond with a red bridge, and sleeping on the futon was surprisingly comfortable. The kind lady even returned a forgotten handcream and took a picture for us. The friendly driver helped us with photos and dropped us off at the bus stop. We enjoyed the relaxing stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful location, excellent service at reception and meal times. Escort to dinner was a nice touch. Private option for outside hot spring. Dinner was outstanding. Will return.
