We had a blast staying in a jail cell at Oostereiland! The location was perfect, with easy access to the town center. The breakfast, though basic, was nice and satisfying. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Our room had a unique layout and offered a brilliant view of the adjacent tourist canal boat dock. We also lucked out with a fantastic wine festival nearby. a quirky hotel in a fabulous location!

I had such a unique and enjoyable experience staying at Oostereiland. the idea of turning an old prison into a hotel is both clever and amusing. the characterful accommodation was surprisingly comfortable, with a spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Although basic, it had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. the location of the hotel was perfect, offering a beautiful view of the lake and park, and it was conveniently central. the outdoor setting was pleasant, and I particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast and excellent cappuccino served by the friendly staff.

I only wish I could have stayed longer! 😔

Rooms were smaller than expected, but the air conditioning was powerful and provided much-needed relief in the heat. the location of the hotel was excellent, situated on an inlet and close to the town center. It was quiet, yet convenient for exploring the area. - the staff at the hotel were friendly and always willing to help. Their hospitality made the stay more enjoyable.

The car parking situation was confusing, with a remote parking area behind a security barrier. the intercom to access the parking did not work, causing frustration and inconvenience.

The view from the room was amazing, overlooking the harbor and offering a beautiful sight. The location was also very convenient, close to the city center and with free parking available. It was great to be able to walk around and explore the area without worrying about where to leave the car. Additionally, the staff was friendly and helpful, always ready to provide assistance and answer any questions we had.

the room itself felt cramped and small. The bathroom being in an alcove was not ideal and lacked privacy.

We stayed at Oostereiland for the Ironman 70.3 Westfriesland and it was the perfect choice! The location is fantastic, with great harbor views and a short walk to Hoorn's charming city center. The staff was wonderful, allowing us to store our bikes securely and providing a casual lounge atmosphere. The breakfast was abundant and reasonably priced, much better than expected. The family room was spacious and comfortable, and the surrounding area was picturesque with boats of all kinds. Highly recommended for short or long stays!
