Located at the back of the property, the lounge area provides a cozy and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. The location of the hotel is also a plus, as it is within walking distance of popular attractions such as whale watching tours and Coopers Catch for some delicious and affordable fish and chips.

The noise level in the hotel can be excessive at times, causing disturbance during the night.

During my recent stay at a backpackers' lodge, I was pleasantly surprised by the great location and spaciousness of the hostel. The communal areas were large, allowing for plenty of socializing and relaxation. I particularly enjoyed the option of using the pool and basking in the sun outside. Additionally, the hostel had a well-equipped kitchen, making it easy for guests to prepare their own meals. The rooms were also a good size and provided a warm and cozy environment. I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay.

The building was cool and spacious with two big kitchen/lounge areas. The beds were comfortable, and the showers and toilets were clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Additionally, the location was convenient, being just a short walk away from the main area of the town.

The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the city, as it is conveniently situated near convenience stores and within walking distance to bars, restaurants, and attractions. One of the rooms with ensuite mentioned a lovely view of the sea, while another review highlighted a bakery and a Thai restaurant attached to the facility. There is also a spa and sauna available for guests to use.

The bathrooms were mentioned to be pretty dated in one of the reviews.

As youngsters, we absolutely loved the friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They even helped us move our belongings to a different room when there was a slight issue with the drain. The price we paid was great and the beds were comfy and clean. The views from the deck were stunning and the bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. The sitting areas were comfortable and the communal areas had big sofas for relaxing.

Felt like royalty, no complaints.

had a relaxing break in kaikoura. dusky lodge exceeded my expectations. friendly staff, great facilities, and met lovely fellow travelers. will definitely stay here again.
