The location is great, as it is close to everything and just a short walk from the lake. The rooms are unique and spacious, with pod-style beds that provide privacy. The shared bathroom facilities are very clean, and there is never a long wait. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the kitchen is well-equipped.

Some guests have mentioned that noise can be an issue, especially if your room is located near a communal area.

We had a spacious room with plenty of room for our bags at Yha Taupo Finlay Jack'S Backpackers. The kitchen was large and well-equipped with fridges and storage space. The location was great, with supermarkets, shops, restaurants, and the lake all within a 5-minute walk. We also loved meeting other guests in the various relaxation areas. The hostel was well-run and had good lighting at night, making it easy to navigate. The beds were comfortable and the staff was helpful.

There was a fire door in our room that would slam shut whenever someone entered or exited the bathroom, which woke us up during the night. Additionally, there were a few drawbacks such as a lack of hooks in the bathroom and not enough fridges in the kitchen for the number of people staying.
