we asked for an upgrade for my 40th birthday weekend, and mercure was kind enough to offer us the supreme lakefront room, which was lovely. we enjoyed the good-sized room and bathroom, along with the big tv and clear sky channels. having a fridge in the room was convenient, and the free parking was great. the staff were very nice, and the breakfast, although lacking fresh fruit, was pretty good. the location was close enough to town to walk, with a decent bus service nearby that we used often.

Nestled on a quiet hill away from the traffic, this hotel is in a prime location with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The walk into town might be steep, but it's worth it for the stunning scenery. The rooms are clean, spacious, and wonderfully warm - perfect for the chilly winter nights. The breakfast is exceptional, with a wide variety of delicious dishes on offer, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, always going the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable.

One small downside is that the bar food could have been better, with some dishes falling short of expectations.

I'm a light sleeper and the room was quiet enough for a good night's sleep.

The hotel did have a few negative aspects. the maintenance of the facilities was poor, with stained carpets and an unreliable shower door.
