As a woman traveling alone, Stewart Island Backpackers in Half-moon Bay was the perfect choice for me. The location was ideal, being near the pub and within walking distance of the ferry terminal. It was very convenient to have everything in Oban close by. The rooms were clean and cozy, with comfortable beds and a warm atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome. The facilities, such as the laundry with new machines and the shared kitchen, were well-maintained and easy to use. the backpackers provided a great experience on this amazing island.

The wifi was a bit sketchy at times for me as a lone traveler.

We had a great stay at this hostel on Stewart Island. the mix of ages staying here was perfect, with a good range from kids to people in their 70s. the kitchen was clean and well-stocked with utensils. the addition of herbs was a nice touch. the owners were friendly and obliging, and the staff were very helpful. the facilities were top-notch, with plenty of toilets, a great kitchen, and a comfortable lounge with games and a pool table. It was a fantastic place to meet other travelers and served as a great base for exploring the island.

Great value for money! This hotel is perfect for budget travelers. The rooms are tidy and clean, with comfortable beds and small windows that can be easily fully opened. The hotel is located near the ferry terminal, making it easy to access the village. We enjoyed the attention to detail, such as the interesting books and puzzles in the common room. Additionally, the staff was friendly and provided us with extra blankets when we asked.

Nothing to complain about, our stay at this hotel was awesome!

They had everything we needed, including a rice cooker and slow cooker! the location was perfect for exploring the island - we were close to all the hiking trails and the beach. the free exchange programs for clothes and hiking equipment were a nice touch. We even got to borrow kiwi spotting gear!

Our room was a bit chilly, and there weren't enough plugs for all of our devices. some of the other guests were quite noisy in the morning and evening, so earplugs are a must if you want a good night's sleep.
