We had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant. The lobster chowder may have been a miscommunication, but they quickly changed it to a large seafood chowder which was delicious. The wine selection was also great. The beds in our room were comfortable and we slept well. The hotel has a charming old-fashioned atmosphere. The self-serve breakfast was generous and there are beautiful views of the sea and mountains from the balcony. The housekeeper was considerate and helpful.

just returned from kaikoura and stayed at this lovely old pub. amazing views, friendly staff, and great value for money. had a fab time sitting on the verandah overlooking the sea. the restaurant served delicious food too. definitely recommend for an authentic experience.

We arrived late and were worried about the long walk to the hotel in the dark, but Pier Hotel sent a courtesy bus to collect us. the shared showers were clean and had excellent water pressure. the breakfast room had plenty of continental options. the restaurant/bar offered great views over the water. Don't miss the fresh crayfish at the seafood BBQ place nearby!

our honeymoon stay at the pier exceeded our expectations. the sunset from our balcony overlooking the sea was breathtaking, and the vegetarian evening meal option was superb. the location and view were stunning, and we felt lucky with the weather to be able to sit outside and enjoy it all.

Drinking water was not available on our final day.
