I recently stayed at Hotel Porto Santa Maria and had a wonderful experience. The bedrooms and beds were incredibly comfortable and spacious, with great views of the city. The hotel's location made it easy to explore all of Funchal. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of options, although I would have liked better tea and coffee. The kitchenette facilities in the room were a bonus, allowing me to prepare my own meals.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location was perfect, right on the sea front with access to the newly formed beach. We loved being able to stroll along the promenade and visit the nearby restaurants in Old Town. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a lovely view of the sea. The service was excellent, with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious, offering a wide variety of options. a great place to stay on the beautiful island of Madeira.

The balcony of our room was not very private, which could be a downside for some guests.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the park border where all the festivals and activities take place. It also offers stunning views on the sea front. Rooms are comfortable and clean, with balconies that allow you to enjoy the picturesque surroundings. The staff is friendly and provides excellent service, making you feel welcomed throughout your stay. The breakfast is satisfying and there are various facilities available for guests to enjoy, such as the Captains bar with its incredible cocktails.

There may be some issues with room selection, as certain rooms, like room 201, might be affected by other people's cigarette smoke.

The value for money at Portobay was excellent - a quality hotel with decent style. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had a fully equipped kitchenette. The hotel's location on the waterfront, in the heart of the old town, was perfect with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. One of the drawbacks was the bar service, which was slow and required customers to approach the bar instead of staff coming to them. Some male staff members seemed disinterested and unhelpful.

I recently stayed at a luxurious 4-star hotel in a perfect location. The hotel was quiet, yet close enough to the center to easily walk to the main areas of interest. It was also conveniently located near the cable car and bus stops. The high level of maintenance both inside and outside of the hotel was impressive. Everything looked so well cared for, making for a pleasant stay. The staff, especially Sonia, was excellent. She was friendly and always remembered our preferences. The service provided was top-notch, and the team was always polite and happy to help in any way they could.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is perfectly placed being right by the sea front and just across the road from shops and restaurants. Our room overlooked the pool and we could also see the sea. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. The spa is excellent and I would recommend making the most of a treatment during any stay. The gardens and grounds are very well kept with an interesting variety of flowers and shrubs. I'll recommend this hotel.
