my stay in franschhoek was nice, but this place exceeded my expectations! the views from the balcony were breathtaking, and the staff was super lovely, preparing delicious breakfasts on order. it truly felt like a hidden gem, much more than i anticipated for a night out in the region.

the pool area needed better maintenance.

Chamonix Wine Farm offers stunning views and an enriching experience with its historical background and unique wine-making process. The Blacksmith's Cottage provides excellent wine tasting, though the breakfast could be improved. A game drive is also an option for those interested in wildlife.

However, the accommodation feels a bit dated, and the absence of air conditioning makes warm nights uncomfortable. It’s inconveniently located for accessing nearby attractions, with no reliable transport options like taxis or Ubers, and the gravel path to reach the lodge is tricky without a 4x4 vehicle. Additionally, there are inconsistent issues with room cleaning and some odd surprises like no breakfast being relayed at check-in. While the views are stunning, the overall management could really use some tightening up.

The Marco Polo Lodge Suites offer breathtaking views of the vineyards and town, making you feel like you’ve found a hidden gem. I absolutely loved relaxing in the spacious communal lounge area by the log fire after a day of adventure. The attentive staff ensured we enjoyed a delightful breakfast every morning.

the terrace overlooking the lake was breathtaking. the signage to find the lodge was confusing.

The lakeview room was HUGE compared to the main lodge! Stunning views and a serene atmosphere with wildlife close by made for an unforgettable stay! !

Despite the lovely outdoors, some amenities seem dated, and the dining experience felt a bit improvised at times, lacking the polish one might expect.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Two-Bedroom Chalet at Chamonix, located near the serene waterfall. The estate is simply stunning, and the main building provided a fantastic breakfast experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. Mr Braaiwell was exceptionally accommodating, going above and beyond to make me feel at home during my stay, which was truly heartwarming.

The room could use some updates regarding the curtains and the garbage bin.

We stayed in the Panorama suite. It had a cozy open plan design with Africa-themed decor and a kitchenette. The sunbathing deck offered a lovely view of the valley and mountains. Breakfast was delicious and the air conditioning was effective. Fast wifi added to our experience.

We stayed for two nights and loved the beautiful view from our room! The outdoor dining area was a highlight, enjoying meals in the fresh air. The staff were sweet, but the wine selection was a bit pricy for what you got. Just a heads up, the AC could use some upgrades. Will recommend for sure!
