During my stay at Protea Hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful view of the Gateway shopping center from my upgraded suite. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of options. I had a fantastic week-long holiday, enjoying the perfect ambience and delicious food. I will definitely recommend this hotel.

Though it may not be suitable for families with tiny toddlers due to the lively atmosphere at the poolside during the busy Durban July weekend, my kids, aged 15 and 16, had a great time. As a house music lover, I was ecstatic!

Great location for shopping, just opposite Gateway Shopping Centre. Comfortable beds and blackout curtains. Excellent service from friendly staff. Beautiful pool and restaurant areas. Clean and tastefully furnished rooms.

I really loved this place. The location was perfect for me, it was within all the places I wanted to get to and right across the mall which was great for me. The room was spacious, clean and had an amazing view of the sunset. The bathroom was also spacious, clean and equipped with awesome water pressure. They had all the room amenities that I needed including a hairdryer, sink, free toiletries and tea and coffee facilities. The staff were amazing, treating me like royalty from the doorman to the manager. The pool area was wonderful, with sun loungers and a terrace that made my leisurely stay even more enjoyable.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a decent stay in this area.

We appreciated the complimentary chocolates and roses in our room upon our arrival. the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, making it easy to explore the area. the breakfast buffet was delicious and had a great variety of options to choose from.

Our romantic getaway was not without its problems. the noise from the nearby nightclub kept us up until the early hours of the morning, making it difficult to get a good night's rest.

The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The hotel was easily accessible and all the amenities were close by.

The hotel's location is great, close to Gateway Shopping Centre and a variety of restaurants. As couples, we felt welcomed and special during our stay.
