For us, it was ideal.

We stayed at Hostal Santillan for 5 nights during our sightseeing trip. The location was excellent, close to major sites and Metro connections. The room was small but clean, with a private bath and balcony that let in plenty of sunlight. The air conditioning saved us during a heatwave, and check-in was a breeze. The staff was helpful and arranged an early morning shuttle to the airport. We appreciated the privacy and the option to not be disturbed by the cleaning crew.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

my recent stay at a centrally-located hostal in Madrid was fantastic. The room was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities I needed. The staff was friendly and helpful, despite a language barrier, and the charming design details throughout the hostal added to the overall experience.

Hostal Santillan was the perfect choice for our stay in the city. The location on Gran Via was ideal, and we were able to walk to all the major tourist sites. The staff was friendly and provided us with a helpful map and orientation at check-in. Our room was comfortable, especially the second one we stayed in. It was spotlessly clean and surprisingly quiet considering its central location. The beds were very comfy, and the bathroom was tiny but modern and clean. we had a fantastic experience at Hostal Santillan.

I had a fantastic experience at Hostal Santillan. The staff was incredibly kind, professional, and truly seemed born to be in the hospitality business. Not only did I appreciate the kindness of the guys at the reception desk, but also the lady who made up the rooms. The location was superb, situated on the main Gran Vía Avenue, within walking distance of all the important cultural and tourist sites. Despite the fact that the rooms were a bit old, I valued my stay at Hostal Santillan more because of the wonderful staff. If the price is right, I would definitely consider staying here again due to my highly positive experience with the personnel.

The location of this hostel is excellent, very close to the Plaza Espana metro stop in central Madrid, making it really convenient to get around. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and top sights are within walking distance or a short bus ride away. The staff at the front desk are friendly and helpful, even offering to store our luggage when we went on a side trip. The building itself is beautiful and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Some guests mentioned that the walls are thin, so noise from neighboring rooms could be a problem.

We loved the central location, with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. The main sights were also within walking distance. The staff was welcoming and the hostel was clean. The bathroom and common areas were well-maintained. The room was spacious and had useful amenities such as a fridge, blow-dryer, and kettle. The shower was excellent.

Location, location, location. The 'hotel' is one of the upper floors in a multi-use building. But the building itself had some beautiful style, and it's planted in a fantastic location in Madrid. The room itself is adequate, and the only complaint are that the walls are very thin to both the outside and inside. Get earplugs!
