Staff Excellence and Scenic Serenity

The staff at the hotel were exceptionally attentive and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. the peaceful lake view added a touch of serenity to our experience. the slightly high prices compared to other accommodations in Sri Lanka could be improved.

I keep returning for the warm hospitality and modern amenities. the staff kindly shared a local taxi number on my first visit. With Free Wi-Fi, Flat-screen TV, Spa, and much more, this place has all I need. Can't wait to stay here again on my next trip.

I had an amazing experience at this beautiful and tranquil hotel. the colonial style building, stunning gardens, and serene atmosphere made it a perfect place to relax after a long flight. the staff were exceptional - friendly, efficient, and always eager to please. the Sri Lankan food served here was excellent, and I highly recommend trying it. it was an awesome experience and I wish I could have stayed longer.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The location next to the lake was absolutely idyllic, providing a calming and serene environment. It was also conveniently situated near the airport, making it a perfect choice for our last stop on our trip. The hotel staff took excellent care of us, ensuring that we felt well looked after throughout our stay. The cleanliness of the accommodation was exceptional, and we were impressed by the hotel facilities, including the beautiful garden, elegant dining pavilion, and refreshing swimming pool. The breakfast provided was delicious, and the Sri Lankan dishes served for dinner were truly excellent. the staff, cleanliness, hotel facilities, and convenient location by the lake made this a truly memorable stay.

The value for money at Notary'S House was excellent, with spacious rooms and beautiful surroundings. The location, near the airport, made it very convenient. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of.

Hotel breakfast could be improved with more variety and options.

The hotel's location next to the lake was simply stunning, offering a peaceful and idyllic setting teeming with bird life. The rooms were spacious and had a lovely colonial open style, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The service from the staff was top-notch, making sure every guest had a delightful experience. The Sri Lankan breakfast was a highlight, offering a delicious start to the day. the hotel provided fantastic facilities such as a pool area and bikes for exploring the area.

The only minor downside was that the sun beds were in need of an update.

stayed at a beautiful hotel in Makandura, so peaceful and clean. Lovely temple nearby and great for biking. Staff went above and beyond, especially Anu who helped find our lost bags. Dinner was amazing and best rice and curry. Thank you for the lovely first impression of Sri Lanka!

Expensive for Sri Lanka.

The twin rooms at the Notary's House are cozy and charming, with antique furnishings and a view of the garden and lake. the ambiance is relaxing, and the staff is friendly and professional. It feels like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

A bit expensive, but the beautiful setting and excellent service make it worth the splurge.

Spent Christmas at this hotel and enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Food was plentiful with a wide variety of options, including a great BBQ. the pool area was a great place to relax and the staff were friendly and attentive. the location was convenient and close to the beach. Had a really lovely time and would recommend to others.

The rooms were quite run down. the mattresses were uncomfortable and the lighting was poor.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at The Notary's House. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely spoilt. The staff were polite, friendly, and attentive. The food was delicious and we highly recommend trying the Sri Lankan breakfast. The hotel had beautiful gardens and a fabulous pool area. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with wonderful wet rooms. The staff took the time to show us around and even arranged a complimentary tuk-tuk ride for us. We cannot recommend this hotel more highly.
