We had a lovely time at the Black Buoy Inn. the rooms were spacious, clean, and had comfortable beds. the staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant offered a great selection of food and drinks. the inn also had ample parking, which was a plus. We wish we could have stayed longer!

I recently stayed at the Black Buoy Inn for a short visit to see family. The location was perfect for walking along the estuary and exploring the town. The staff were friendly and helpful, making my stay enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food. The evening meal at the inn was also excellent and I loved the friendly atmosphere.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location, just steps from a picturesque old town quay and the river, was lovely. The building itself was attractive and clean, and the rooms were comfortable with great amenities. The food, especially Toby's excellent cooked breakfasts, was delicious. A perfect spot to explore Essex and exceed expectations for a last-minute break!

We've stayed at the Black Buoy before and once again, it was a wonderful experience. the staff were friendly and efficient, and the room we stayed in was tastefully decorated and comfortable. We loved the historical charm of the building and its location in the conservation area. the pub's location near the river Colne made for great riverside walks and the Wivenhoe Trail to Colchester. On top of that, the meals at the hotel were superb, both dinner and breakfast. a delightful stay.

The location close to the riverfront allowed for enjoyable walks. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the ability to access our room without walking through the pub was a plus. Onsite parking was convenient. I highly recommend this hotel.

I had a fantastic stay at this charming inn in a peaceful village. the staff, including Karen and Ian, were friendly and excellent. the room was beautiful, with the whitest, crispiest bedding and the biggest, softest towels I've ever seen. the breakfast was warm, hearty, and filling, and the pub's location was fantastic. You could see the river through the window at breakfast. I highly recommend this inn for accommodation.

During my Christmas stay, I appreciated the peacefulness of the location and the close proximity to the river. It was a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Additionally, the hot breakfast served at the pub was quite delicious, with a good variety of ales to choose from.

There were a few aspects that were not up to par. the steep and narrow staircase leading up to the bedrooms was not suitable for those who may have difficulty with mobility.
