The food at the hotel's restaurant was absolutely fabulous. They offer a menu that is simple, yet the cooking is exceptional and surpasses the standards of many high-end gastro pubs. The staff provided excellent service throughout our stay, both during dinner and breakfast. They were friendly and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcomed. The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring the whole of Galloway. It is centrally situated in Newton Stewart, which provides easy access to nearby shops, restaurants, and the beautiful riverside. Additionally, it is a short drive away from stunning forest areas.

The shower in one of our rooms did not work, and despite calling for help, the issue was not resolved.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout our stay. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, with large comfortable beds and good quality bedlinen. The breakfast provided was of a high standard, with a full Scottish breakfast option and endless tea and coffee available.

I had a great experience at Blackhorse. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast. The hotel had a comfortable bar with a wide range of sports channels on TV. The room I stayed in was very spacious and had all the amenities I needed, including a well-stocked tea and coffee station. The location was perfect for exploring the area, and the housekeeping was impeccable. a wonderful stay.

Some locals at the bar were unwelcoming and created an uncomfortable atmosphere for guests.

Spent my Christmas weekend at this hotel and it was amazing. The first thing I noticed was the warm and helpful staff. The room was spacious, well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the fact that the hotel is located so centrally, making it easy to get around the town. Also, the food was mouth-watering and delicious. The breakfast had a great selection, and the dinner menu was varied enough to please all tastes. The hotel also had a beautiful fireplace which was the perfect touch for Christmas.

While everything was lovely, I did feel like the cost of the hotel could have been a little less. However, it was worth the money for the quality of service received. The Wi-Fi signal in the room was a little on the weak side, and the TV lacked variety in channels. I had a great experience and I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay.

We had a fantastic stay in this hotel. The location in Newton Stewart was perfect for exploring Dumfries and Galloway by car or public transport. The hotel was close to shops, restaurants, and the riverside, and just a short drive away from the forest. The staff made us feel very welcome and treated us like part of their family. The food and service were great, and the breakfast had plenty of options to suit everyone's taste. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and had good bed linen. The wifi was efficient, and we couldn't hear any noise from the bar.

There wasn't a single thing that I found to be lacking during my stay. Everything was absolutely perfect.

The hotel is conveniently located in the English Premier, making it easy to explore Dumfries and Galloway either by car or public transport. The lemon and thyme chicken at the bar is absolutely delicious, and the breakfast provided is a tasty start to the day. On-road parking charges are reasonable for those traveling with their own vehicle.

Some of the bedrooms facing the main street can be noisy in the early morning, which may disturb light sleepers.
