I was amazed by the unique history and modern design of the hotel. The rooms, converted from prison cells, were fascinating and comfortable with original cell walls. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the drinks menu provided plenty of choices. The warm welcome from Carly at reception set the tone for a fantastic stay. The hotel's location made it convenient to enjoy the on-site bar and restaurant. The photographs and plaques showcasing the jail's history added an interesting touch. I appreciated the option of both a shower and a bath in the spacious and fresh room. The parking right by the entrance was a bonus.

Staff gave helpful recommendations for sightseeing and dining. The building is unique and interesting. The cocktail bar had excellent service. Rooms were clean and comfortable with amazing bathrooms. The hotel offers EV chargers.

The renovation of the hotel was very well executed with attention to detail resulting in a clean and quiet hotel with excellent finishes. the breakfast was delicious with many options available including a continental buffet and hot food to order. the bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning kept us cool during a heatwave.

While the restaurant had many positive aspects, the experience was let down by the understaffed, overly busy courtyard which was often difficult to access. the waiters were unable to keep up with the demand resulting in a drop of service quality.

The room itself was well-equipped, with heating, air conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, a mini-bar. I also enjoyed the terrace and garden furniture, perfect for relaxing and taking in the surroundings. Lastly, the bathroom was a highlight with its underfloor heating, providing the ultimate in luxury and comfort.

The hotel has done a remarkable job of preserving the old prison feel while adding modern touches. It was fascinating to explore the history of the place. Additionally, the location in Bodmin is ideal for sightseeing in Cornwall.
