Another advantage we enjoyed was the delicious evening meal we had in the restaurant, with perfect service and attentive staff.

The service, from the receptionist to the housekeepers, was superb and the level of customer service was excellent. Our room was beautifully appointed with all the necessary amenities, including a comfortable sitting area and a lovely patio with garden furniture. The hotel also offered free toiletries, an electric kettle, and a flat-screen TV for our convenience. We were truly impressed by the high level of cleanliness and comfort at this venue.

My New Year's Eve experience wasn't very pleasant. the hotel's party package included a set menu that turned out to be quite limited in options, especially for vegetarian guests.

The location of this hotel is perfect for those who want to explore the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District. It is conveniently located near a bus stop, making it easy to embark on bus journeys to explore the area. Additionally, the hotel is adjacent to the hiking trail around the lake, providing easy access to nature walks and stunning views. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, with excellent service from the friendly staff. The breakfast is delicious and the views from the rooms are spectacular.

The refurbishment work in the common areas was not completed during my stay, which slightly affected the ambience in the evenings.

It was slightly disappointing to see that the staff seemed tired and stressed at times, possibly due to being overworked. This made us a little uncomfortable and left us wondering if the staff were well-treated.

Additionally, the food at the hotel was outstanding. The breakfast options were delicious, with a variety of freshly cooked dishes and a great selection of fruits and pastries. The dinner menu was equally impressive, offering a range of meat and vegetarian options that were all incredibly delicious.

Although there wasn't much to dislike about our stay, one small downside was the limited selection of beer on tap. It would have been nice to have a wider variety, especially considering the excellent local breweries in the area.

Delicious food and stunning location for a romantic getaway. We loved the harp playing and red roses on Valentine's Day. The friendly staff and comfortable room made our stay even better. we highly recommend Borrowdale Gates for a special retreat.
