Breakfast is ample, catering to even the heartiest appetite. The location is ideal, on the outskirts of Alston, offering a peaceful retreat while still being close to the town center.

There were occasional water pipe noises due to the age of the house, but it did not significantly affect the overall experience.

It was a pleasure to stay in such a stunning example of architecture from a bygone era. the large rooms, big windows, and homely atmosphere created a truly delightful experience. the manor's leafy garden with mature trees and a view of the valley added to its charm. the town of Alston, with its charming seventeenth-century pubs, was an added bonus. I couldn't have been happier with this wonderful find. Couldn't fault it.

As women traveling alone, we felt safe and comfortable throughout our stay. The hosts were welcoming and made us feel right at home. The breakfast was delicious and had a great variety of options. The location was central and perfect for exploring the surrounding hills and Roman sites. We also appreciated the option of a three-course evening meal, which was homemade and excellent.

I had a fantastic welcome upon arrival at this country house. the single room, although compact, had all the essentials and the bedding and towels were lovely. the breakfast was plentiful, well cooked, and tasty. the owners and staff were without exception welcoming, friendly, and helpful. the room was spotlessly clean, and I also enjoyed a delicious supper that I pre-booked. the location is perfect for exploring both the town and the surrounding countryside, and it is really easy to find. I would gladly stay here again and would 100% recommend it to others.

We stayed at a hotel on our cycling trip, located in a beautiful area run by the nicest couple. The garden provided a lovely location to relax, but it was pretty noisy until 9pm. The room was small with a tiny double bed, but the bathroom was decent with a leaky shower drain. The service was friendly, and we enjoyed a hearty breakfast each morning. it was a convenient stopover for our coast to coast journey.

The car park could use some improvement.

The breakfast is delicious and plentiful, leaving you satisfied for the day ahead. The views from the windows are picturesque, showcasing the lovely wildlife. Plus, the lounge is newly renovated and provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

The historic charm of the 230-year-old building, along with a 200-year-old tree outside our window, added to the overall experience. The bar provided a well-priced option to socialize with other guests and locals. The lounge room was a lovely space to relax and unwind, and the laughter between staff and suppliers created a warm and inviting atmosphere.

I had a wonderful stay at this place. The location was perfect for my stopover while cycling coast to coast. The area is absolutely beautiful and I even got to see red squirrels during my stay. The couple who run the hotel are the nicest people, always warm and welcoming. The service was exceptional, from the attentive housekeeping to the convenient shuttle service. I was even greeted with a welcome drink upon arrival. The room had all the amenities I could wish for, including heating and tea/coffee facilities. The free Wi-Fi in the rooms was a bonus, allowing me to stay connected. I also enjoyed relaxing in the lovely garden area, complete with comfortable garden furniture. a great experience.
