It was a perfect spot for a family getaway. Cons: My children wished for more diverse meal options for dinner.

we stayed at mercure, a converted house turned hotel, rooms spacious, just completed. bar area nice, breakfast had good variety, staff helpful much for filling quickly. excellent birdwatching nearby at River Nith, and easy access to Caervorlock WWT, modern hotel design, comfy bed, easy wifi connection.

The wardrobe in the room was spacious, like a magician's hat where you can pull out endless outfits. I felt like a star on the flat-screen TV, lounging in luxury like a character in a British period drama.

the hotel is very clean and modern with a very comfortable bed and a very large room and bathroom. the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, making our stay enjoyable. the hotel's close proximity to the ferry terminal in Larne made it a perfect stopover location. the relaxation facilities added to our enjoyment, allowing us to unwind after a day of exploring nearby landmarks like Thomas Carlyle's Birthplace, St Michael's and South Parish Church, and Dumfries and Camera Obscura.

The old house was absolutely stunning, with a jaw-dropping dining room and inspiring interiors. The hotel's quiet location on the outskirts of town offered plenty of on-site parking. The breakfast selection was very good, and the cooked breakfasts were delivered with super speed. The staff, especially Emma at breakfast, were incredibly attentive, friendly, and courteous. it was an excellent weekend getaway and highly recommended.

The bar tender was incredibly helpful, making us feel welcome from the start. They had free wi-fi in rooms, a 24-hour reception, and flat-screen TVs. The breakfast had a good variety of options, with a wow-worthy coffee machine and a fantastic selection of juices. The staff was helpful and ensured quick refills. Just a small hiccup with the hot food sitting too long, but overall a super satisfying stay.
