I booked a night away at Thorn for me and my mum as a surprise. It did not disappoint. The room was beautiful, spacious, and had a lovely sea view. The bathroom was clean and the homemade shortbread was a delightful touch. The staff were attentive and the food in the restaurant was amazing. We had a great night's sleep in the comfy bed and the breakfast was delicious. The team even went above and beyond to help me retrieve some forgotten items. I would 100% recommend this hotel.

Prices for wine seem a bit high compared to other options in the area.

We had a fantastic time staying in a charming hotel close to the train station. The location was absolutely beautiful, with an Essex coastline that took our breath away. Our room had a stunning view of the River Stour and a bed that was as comfortable as could be. The bathroom was pristine, with a shower that had great water pressure and fluffy towels. The staff were friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious, with a good variety of options to choose from. it was a lovely experience.

The hotel car park was a bit small, but understandable given the village centre location.

The room amenities, including heating and an electric kettle, were perfect for our needs. The flat-screen TV provided entertainment during our downtime. The dining experience was outstanding, with a restaurant and bar/lounge area that offered delicious meals and drinks. the service, location, and pet amenities available at this hotel were exceptional.

The hotel offered fantastic food with an imaginative and exciting menu, just as I had remembered from my previous visit. The staff were apologetic and prompt in resolving any issues that arose, such as table location and billing errors. Additionally, the hotel had a good location, with a view over the river and a lively bar and dining area.

On the negative side, the hotel had a small and often full car park, leading guests to park further away. The arrival process lacked a welcoming atmosphere, with guests having to wait for acknowledgment.

Enjoyed the historical feel of the hotel with dark oak beams running along the ceiling. the breakfast and lunch menus were varied and delicious with lots of fish options. the location on the waterfront was great for exploring the surrounding areas.

The room in the separate house was spacious, stylish, and impeccably clean. the bathroom was a highlight, with a luxurious bubble bath experience. the staff were friendly and the breakfasts were delicious, with a great vegan option. We also enjoyed trying the light bites and main meals, particularly the tasty fish dishes. the location was ideal for us, and we appreciated the historical significance of the site.

The staff at Thorn were excellent, efficient, helpful and friendly. the room, although a bit small with sloping ceilings due to being in the roof, had a lovely view of the estuary.
