I had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel! The location was perfect, with the center of town just a couple of minutes walk away. The staff was extremely professional, providing excellent service in a timely and friendly manner. They even offered a welcome drink upon arrival, which was a nice touch. The room amenities were top-notch, with everything I needed including ironing facilities, heating, and tea and coffee facilities. The terrace and garden furniture were lovely for relaxing outside. The hotel also provided free toiletries, an electric kettle, and a flat-screen TV in the room, making it feel luxurious and comfortable. the service and quality here were outstanding.

I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

I recently stayed at The Old Black Lion for a weekend getaway. The property exudes character and history, but the modern bathroom and hot showers were a welcomed touch. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the bar areas were comfortable and traditional. The highlight was the excellent meal we enjoyed on our last night. The location was perfect for walking into town and exploring the beautiful surroundings.

The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of town, just a short walk away from all the local facilities and shops. We loved being able to explore the charming streets and easily access Portuguese restaurants for a delicious meal. The room itself was comfortable and clean, with a well-appointed bathroom. The staff provided great service and the breakfast options were satisfying.

The rooms were quite small and lacked proper soundproofing, which made it difficult to have a peaceful night's sleep.

What really stood out was the friendly and helpful staff. From the moment we booked, they were proactive in suggesting dinner reservations and upon arrival, they made us feel welcome and ensured we were settled. the historic inn itself is charming and beautiful, and our room was great. a wonderful experience.

We stayed in the Cromwell Room and were blown away by its quirky features and the comfortable, spacious bed. Although the room looked tired and in need of decoration, the main bar and dining rooms had a contemporary and stylish design. The breakfast was delicious and satisfying. The staff were responsive to our concerns, particularly about the shower, and reduced our bill accordingly. We would consider staying again in the hope of a refreshed room. I would recommend this hotel for its charm and potential.

The restaurant was fantastic, with delicious food and a great atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and efficient, making our experience even better. The hotel's central location was also a major plus, making it easy for us to explore the area. The bedroom furnishings were lovely and the creaky floorboards and uneven floors added charm. The full English breakfast was excellent and the view from the mezzanine lounge was breathtaking.

We had a wonderful weekend at a pretty little hotel/pub in a gorgeous town. the staff, especially Maria and Stacey, were friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, even during the snowstorm. We enjoyed delicious food and cozy evenings reading by the fire. the location was perfect for exploring the bookshops and other attractions in Hay. We truly appreciate the hospitality and can't wait to come back.

We recently had a city break and stumbled upon a delightful historic inn. We loved the cozy atmosphere and the food was top-notch. the staff were friendly and accommodating, even when we came back from a muddy hike. the beer selection was impressive and the apple and elderflower sponge was a real treat. Plus, the location was perfect for exploring the area's shops and several nearby walking paths.

the toilet facilities in our room were a bit noisy. it was a lovely experience and we would highly recommend it to other travellers.
