Had a fantastic evening at the Portland Arms! The steak pie and chips were delicious, served piping hot with an extra gravy boat on the side. Drinks, like BlindPig cider, were excellent and reasonably priced. A must-stop if passing through Lybster!

We had a very comfortable 5-night stay at the Portland Hotel in August. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the superior room we stayed in was spacious with a modern, recently refurbished bathroom. The breakfast selection was great, with both continental and cooked options available. The restaurant served delicious evening meals, and we loved the various public spaces for residents, especially on rainy days. The hotel's location was ideal for our Orkney tour after driving the NC500.

Had a fantastic Christmas stay at this hotel. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, with flat screen TVs for entertainment. The food from the restaurant was delicious, especially the Christmas dinner. The hotel is conveniently located near key attractions in the area, making it easy to explore. And the staff were friendly and accommodating, making our stay even more enjoyable.

There were a few areas that could be improved. Some of the rooms were in need of refurbishment, with tired furnishings and loose tiles in the bathrooms.

We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of gluten-free options available for my partner, who has celiac, and the staff made sure to accommodate our dietary needs. The room was clean, cozy, and well-equipped. it was a hidden gem on our route and we would definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

The Portland Hotel pleasantly surprised me with its value for money. Despite not having the ultimate luxury, the prices were reasonable for the area. The staff at the bar and restaurant were exceptional, providing excellent service. The food was of great quality and good value for money. The hotel's location on a road junction, close to the Orkney ferry and Lybster harbour, made it convenient for travelers. Additionally, the rooms were clean and cozy, with immaculate new ensuite bathrooms. The single beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was served quickly and efficiently, using top-end ingredients. The stunning views added to the overall pleasant experience.

Only a minor improvement could be made in terms of breakfast service speed.

Great place on the NC500. Parked motorcycles in the pig sheds! Manager and staff were really friendly. The restaurant food and bar were excellent. The breakfast was also superb. Definitely would stay here again. Lybster is a small place, but the historic working harbor is worth a visit.

We had a fantastic stay in this hotel in the north east highlands. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location on the A99 in Lybster was convenient for our travels. The hotel had ample parking and the cleanliness was impeccable. The breakfast served was great, and the WiFi worked well. We also enjoyed the walk towards the pretty harbour and the nearby general store.

The food was a bit ordinary and pricey, so we opted to eat elsewhere after trying it once. the hotel is in need of some maintenance and repairs, especially in the reception area and hallways.
