The location of the hotel is great for those wanting to explore the surrounding area. With beautiful countryside right outside the pub, it's perfect for nature lovers. Inside, the rooms are cosy and welcoming, providing a comfortable space to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The staff are friendly and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The breakfast served each morning is delicious and filling, providing a great start to the day.

There were some minor issues with cleanliness in the rooms, but the discount provided by the landlady helped make up for it.

Stayed at this charming rural pub for 11 nights during the Hay Festival. Perfect base to explore the beautiful region. The landlord, John, was an exceptional host - friendly and helpful. The pub had a cozy atmosphere, complete with a log burning stove. Great selection of food and ale. Immaculate room with thoughtful extras like bottled water. Comfortable sleep and a great shower. Phenomenal breakfast and attentive service. Highly recommended for the price.

The room was spacious and had plenty of storage for our belongings. The value for money was great, especially considering the location. We were able to explore the city easily due to its central location.

There were a few issues with cleanliness upon arrival, such as a full rubbish bin and some towels not being clean. the shower had some mold.

We had a wonderful stay at The Red Lion. The room was well-furnished and comfortable, while the bathroom was clean and well-stocked. John, the host, was pleasant and helpful, making us feel very welcome. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the bar, provided by the attentive licensee, Mandy. The food was superb and great value. The beds were comfy, and we appreciated being given a ground floor room for our elderly mother. a very friendly and welcoming place to stay, offering excellent value.

A real adventure for our family. The accommodation, though tired in places, was comfortable and pleasant. The new owners are taking over and we hope they invest in improvements. The breakfast service was lovely, with a polite and friendly young lady. If you want basic and affordable accommodations, I highly recommend this venue.

our second stay in madley was even better than the last - red lion was truly a gem! the new owners have done wonders with the place, making it cozy and comfortable. the staff, especially the breakfast server, were delightful and made us feel right at home. we loved the adventurous feel of our stay, and would highly recommend this venue if you're looking for a basic and economical accommodation option.

Arrived very late but the hosts had a dinner specially made for us at Red Lion. Had a great time at the bar with locals. Rooms were comfy and clean with 5-star toilet paper. Cute church nearby. It’s a great place on a budget to explore beautiful Hereford.
