The beautiful courtyard room was a peaceful escape, with ample space for my dogs and enclosed surroundings for their safety. the staff, especially Suzanne, provided exceptional service and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. the traditional features, tasty food, and welcoming atmosphere truly made it feel like a home away from home. improvements could be made in the lighting and shower quality in the wooden huts.

While the wooden huts were charming, the lighting was a bit dim, leading to a cozy, curtain-drawn atmosphere. the shower was average, but a spa-worthy upgrade wouldn't hurt.

the staff were amazing, especially Suzanne, who went out of her way to make our stay memorable. the pheasant with gluten, free gravy was to die for, and the rooms were recently refurbished, so clean and comfy. I loved that it was dog, friendly too , my wee pups felt right at home in the courtyard. the traditional charm of this building and the beautiful grounds made for a perfect escape from the world. I could sit outside with my dogs in the enclosed courtyard and relax, it was so peaceful.

the rooms were recently refurbished and very clean and comfortable. I felt at ease bringing my two dogs with me as the hotel was truly dog-friendly. the courtyard room we stayed in was gorgeous and didn't have any strange smells from previous dog-friendly guests. the enclosed courtyard was perfect for our dogs to run around safely. the grounds of the hotel were also amazing and provided a perfect escape from the outside world. a wonderful experience at Shieldhill Castle.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The grounds were lovely, providing a beautiful setting for the main building, which was tastefully furnished. The restaurant, lounges, and bar were all stylish and inviting. The food was excellent, and we especially appreciated the friendly and attentive staff who made us feel welcome. The hotel's location was ideal for exploring the surrounding border hills and conveniently located for visiting the nearby city.

Stayed in a cabin, not a room; no wifi. Lovely grounds and lounge area. Dinner service slow but staff tried their best. Country location so very quiet. Breakfast tasty, but lacked cereal and yoghurt.

Who needs a flushed toilet? Breakfast without fresh fruit is like a castle without a moat.

We had a wonderful stay at Shieldhill Castle. The main hotel was beautifully decorated and the grounds were lovely to explore. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was tasty. Despite a few small issues, the staff were friendly and attentive, doing their best to rectify any mistakes. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring the border hills and visiting Edinburgh. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.
