Stayed at a posh castle with a bar, restaurant, and free parking. Felt like I was staying with a quirky royal family. Hilarious!

I recently stayed at a charming hotel in a beautiful location. The rooms were recently refurbished and very clean and comfortable. I felt at ease bringing my two dogs with me as the hotel was truly dog-friendly. The courtyard room we stayed in was gorgeous and didn't have any strange smells from previous dog-friendly guests. The enclosed courtyard was perfect for our dogs to run around safely. The grounds of the hotel were also amazing and provided a perfect escape from the outside world. a wonderful experience at Shieldhill Castle.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The grounds were lovely, providing a beautiful setting for the main building, which was tastefully furnished. The restaurant, lounges, and bar were all stylish and inviting. The food was excellent, and we especially appreciated the friendly and attentive staff who made us feel welcome. The hotel's location was ideal for exploring the surrounding border hills and conveniently located for visiting the nearby city.

Stayed in a cabin, not a room; no wifi. Lovely grounds and lounge area. Dinner service slow but staff tried their best. Country location so very quiet. Breakfast tasty, but lacked cereal and yoghurt.

Who needs a flushed toilet? Breakfast without fresh fruit is like a castle without a moat.

We had a wonderful stay at Shieldhill Castle. The main hotel was beautifully decorated and the grounds were lovely to explore. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was tasty. Despite a few small issues, the staff were friendly and attentive, doing their best to rectify any mistakes. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring the border hills and visiting Edinburgh. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.

The hotel had a nice traditional theme and the food was quite good. The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially the lady at reception who made us feel at home. We also enjoyed the peaceful and quiet country location, with beautiful grounds and a cozy lounge area.

the room cleanliness was questionable as we found the toilet had not been flushed. The breakfast was average at best, lacking fresh fruit and offering a rather unappetizing porridge.
