We loved the excellent location, just a short 5-minute drive to the stunning seaside and only 25 minutes away from the lakes. The cottage was perfect for our family with kids, as it was very safe and located in a very quiet village. The property was excellent, and we couldn't have been happier. The host, Michelle, was also fantastic with super easy communication, always replying to our questions within minutes.

I absolutely loved curling up by the cosy fire, watching Freeview on the TV and popping in a DVD. So thrilling. Plus, the convenience of having local shops, cafes, a library, and bus routes nearby was just mind-blowing.

Oh, how I loved driving 48 km to visit Gretna Green. It was the highlight of my stay.

We had a fantastic New Year's stay at a charming cottage in a peaceful location. the cottage was spotlessly clean and provided great value for money. We were pleasantly surprised to find a loaf of bread, tea, coffee, and milk waiting for us on arrival, which was a nice touch. the cottage also had a travel cot and a high chair available, saving us the trouble of bringing our own. the nearby neighbors, who are related to the owners, were friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them in the shared backyard. the quiet surroundings were perfect for our dogs, and there were only a few minutes of fireworks during the bonfire nights, much less than in our usual city.

The stairs in the cottage were quite steep, so be cautious when using them. the Wi-Fi coverage was limited due to the thick walls, mainly working in the kitchen and not reaching the upstairs area.

I had a wonderful stay at a spotless and cozy cottage. It was well equipped and nicely decorated. the host was incredibly friendly and helpful. I loved the fireplace and the beautiful bedrooms. the bedsheets and towels were of the best quality, and the mattresses were very comfortable. the location was nice, in front of a little school and church. It was also not far from a lovely beach called Allonby.

The front door was draughty and not very secure, which was a bit concerning.

The personal touch was amazing, with bread and milk provided, as well as firewood for the open fire. Everything we needed for our stay was available, including a washing machine, towels, and bedding. It was also great that we were able to bring our dogs along and that there was a safe place for them. The hosts were always available if we needed anything.

Before arriving, we were assured that there was shared access with the neighbors and their small friendly dog. However, on the first day, our dog was confronted by three dogs, two of which were aggressive towards her.

the cottage was spotless and perfectly located, just the right distance from the touristy areas. great value for money and had everything we needed.

St Matthews Cottages was such a great find! The cottage had everything we wanted, including a cozy wood fire and comfy beds with soft bedding. The location was quiet and lovely, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. Definitely a perfect weekend getaway.

The breakfast menu could use a little improvement.

What a lovely little cottage! It had so much character and was incredibly clean, warm, and comfortable. The village itself was peaceful and serene, with no aircraft flying over. Plus, it was conveniently located for exploring West Cumbria and had an excellent Lidl in nearby Maryport for any shopping needs.
