Quaint Pub Stay with Real Ale Delight

Ideal for our walking holiday, The Boathouse in Wylam was a convenient and inexpensive one-night stop without frills. With a well-equipped kitchen and enough food provided for breakfast, it was perfect for us. The friendly pub downstairs offered a great selection of ales and delicious Thai food. The accommodation was newly refurbished, and we particularly enjoyed the spacious kitchen/dining area. Being right next to the train station was a bonus, and we appreciated the lovely views over the Tyne river.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were cheerful and very helpful. The on-site microbrewery was a unique feature that I really enjoyed. The DIY breakfast was a nice touch, with a well-equipped kitchen offering a variety of cereals, tea, coffee, and even homemade toast with butter and jam. The staff went above and beyond when my friend left their shoes behind, as they promptly sent them back without any charge for postage. this hotel exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier with my experience.

Despite the negatives, there were a few positive aspects to our stay. the room itself was lovely, with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. The bathroom, although shared, was also really nice. Additionally, we enjoyed the location of the hotel. It was conveniently located near a great cycle path along the Tyne, perfect for romantic walks. Furthermore, being a real ale pub, we were able to enjoy some great drinks during our stay, which added to the overall experience.

The room was advertised as deluxe, but it didn't live up to our expectations. the room was not en-suite as we had assumed, but instead, we had to use a shared toilet down the corridor.

The location of this bed and breakfast is conveniently situated along the Hadrian's Wall Coast to Coast Cycle Route, making it ideal for cyclists. The staff is friendly and welcoming, ensuring a pleasant stay. The rooms are nicely decorated and well-maintained, with amenities like a warm bath and access to a washing machine and dryer. Guests can enjoy self-service breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen, with a variety of options available, including cereal, bread, and crumpets.

Parking can be limited, especially during busy evenings.

Recently stayed at The Boathouse for the Great North Run. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Loved the lively pub atmosphere that quieted down around 11.30. Comfortable and cozy rooms. Clean shared bathroom and kitchen with breakfast cereal and tea/coffee provided. Enjoyed the selection of beers and the chatty and helpful staff. A gem of a pub with an authentic Thai kitchen and a range of well-kept real ales. Great stop for Hadrians Way walkers.

I stayed at The Boathouse for a couple of nights while walking Hadrians Way and it was the perfect base. The room was clean and had everything I needed, and the Thai food made on site was outstanding. They also had a great selection of well-kept real ales. I loved the fully functional guest kitchen, where I could have breakfast at my own convenience. The bathroom down the corridor was lovely, and I enjoyed the sight of deer and rabbits across the road in the mornings. The location next to the level crossing and station added to the charm, and I had a great time watching life go by.
