I recently stayed at The Golden Lion for a few nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always dressed professionally. The parking area at the rear of the hotel was spacious and convenient. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and I was pleased to learn that it had recently been refurbished along with the rest of the hotel. Despite a bit of noise from deliveries and traffic outside, the location was quiet and peaceful. The set menu at the restaurant was delicious and offered great value for money. Additionally, the hotel's central location allowed for easy access to the nearby High Street.

The lighting in the rooms was poor, especially for business travelers needing to work in the evenings. This could be a nuisance for those who prefer not to work in the bar area.

The lack of air conditioning in the rooms can make them uncomfortable during hot weather.

The room had all the necessary facilities, including a hairdryer and tea tray. The bathroom was clean with nice white towels. it was a lovely stay.

There was quite a bit of noise from the unloading happening nearby.

The value for money at the Golden Lion was exceptional - a 2-star hotel that felt like so much more! The rooms were spacious, clean and had all the necessary amenities. The location was perfect, right in the heart of the high street, and the staff were genuinely friendly and happy, providing fantastic service.
