As youngsters, we loved the beautifully decorated rooms and comfortable beds, giving us a smart country house experience. The inn's rustic charm with flagstone floors and old settles added to the authentic atmosphere. The manager, David, was very welcoming, and the food was excellent. The location offered plenty of opportunities for exploration, including nearby Richmond and Barnard Castle with the famous Bowes museum.

the property has a real period Georgian feel and the decoration and furniture are gorgeous. the room I had was very comfortable and warm, and the shower was amazing! the food and drink at the pub were excellent, and I was surprised to see how many people came to eat there. the atmosphere in the pub was great and the surroundings were lovely. the location is perfect for exploring the rural south of Co Durham, with easy access to walks and small towns.

Nothing, everything was excellent!

The room lacked chairs and a table, but the cozy sitting area stole my heart! enjoyed the restaurant and free wi-fi. Only downside: stairs to the raised platform were a bit tricky. 😩.

I always return here. Staff found my lost car keys once, so memorable. It has all I need: Wi-Fi, restaurant, kettle, and kitchen tools. Perfect for my holidays.

While the bath in the room was huge, I would have preferred a shower. Additionally, the car park was a short walk away, but the view from there made up for it.
