the staff at Old Well Inn were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. the room was spacious, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. the highlight was the beautiful garden, which was illuminated at night and had plenty of dog-friendly amenities, including bowls and fresh water taps. the chef even spoiled my anxious dog with tasty treats. the food was delicious, and my husband particularly enjoyed the great selection of beers. the inn's location was also convenient, with easy street parking and close proximity to the town.

During my recent stay, I had a lovely room on the ground floor at the Old Well Inn. The bed was very comfy, and the spaciousness of the room was a pleasant surprise. The decor had a charming vintage feel that added to the overall atmosphere. The bathroom was also spacious and well-maintained, with large, clean towels provided. The Smart TV in the room was a bonus, and the wifi connectivity was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the wholesome and well-presented breakfast in the morning. It was a great start to the day.

The hotel was exceptionally clean, with tea, coffee, and biscuits provided. The hotel's location was very close to the town centre, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. The breakfast was delicious, with a variety of tea and coffee selections, cereals, and a cooked English or vegetarian breakfast.

The breakfast in the morning was superb, offering a variety of options. it was a wonderful experience.

The noise from the dining area below my room was a bit disruptive at times.

Service from the staff was great in the bar area, and they had an app for table service that was efficient. the breakfast was good and located in a cozy area. One positive was the large room with a bright, warm shower, and a large comfortable bed for a good night's sleep.

Bathroom was in desperate need of an upgrade, with a grimy shower that we didn't dare use. the toilet seat was loose and the bathroom fan sounded like a jet engine.

Nothing it was perfect.

We had a lovely time on our city break. the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the delicious homemade curries and the cask ale served at the hotel's restaurant. the location was also very convenient, as it was close to the main street and a toy shop that we enjoyed.

we didn't realize that the hotel was dog-friendly, and while we like dogs, we found it unpleasant to have them in the bedrooms. Another downside was the lack of a wall fitting for the shower head, which made it difficult to take a proper shower.

Traveling to Barnard Castle for a quick overnight stay, we were warmly welcomed by the Owners Roy & Rima at The Old Well Inn. The 12th Century building offered an enormous and quaint en suite bedroom, blending historic charm with modern amenities. The food was outstanding, with a wide selection of beers and ales. We wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area and enjoy the hotel's unique ambiance. We will definitely be back!
