I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in a lovely little place. The location was perfect, nestled in a nice little village and right next to the Escomb Saxon church. The service was exceptional, from the friendly girls behind the bar to the helpful manager. They truly made me feel welcome. The room was immaculate, with all the amenities I needed, including a flat-screen TV, electric kettle, and a comfortable sitting area. I especially appreciated the free toiletries and the cozy terrace where I could relax and enjoy the beautiful garden.

I highly recommend this place to all my family and friends.

We stayed at The Saxon Inn for a few nights and it was a perfect base to explore the area. The room had beautiful decor, a comfortable bed, and a great rain-type shower head. The towels were thick and luxurious, and the room was always stocked with a good selection of tea, coffee, and biscuits. The staff members were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, even offering us a ride to town. We would definitely stay here again.

There was nothing I didn't like.

The outside area of the hotel makes for a great first impression; its stunning garden and charming outdoor patio are unforgettable. the staff members were attentive from start to finish, offering their assistance as I arrived. the room I stayed in was beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortable and had a gorgeous view of the surrounding area. the en-suite bathroom was modern and had an incredible double shower. A hearty meal and delightful beverages were enjoyed in the warm and inviting establishment, where I was lucky enough to encounter a few locals who quickly became dear friends.

Though oddly beautiful, the surrounding area didn't feel too safe at night and could have used more lighting. the bedding was quite heavy and the bedroom appeared quite bright, making it difficult for me to get comfortable;

The only improvement that could be made to the breakfast choices would be to add more variety to the buffet options.

The staff were welcoming and accommodating, especially when it came to dietary requirements. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Despite a few minor issues, we would definitely recommend this hotel. a great experience.

Lovely rooms, arranged well with a home-from-home feel. Super clean with nice touches like sleep well packet and good quality towels. Great pub downstairs with excellent food. Close to a big Tesco/Starbucks. Lovely village with a 7th century church and short walk to the river.

I recently stayed at a charming inn located near a historic Saxon church. The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and all the necessary amenities. The bathroom was well-equipped with a good shower. The staff were friendly and attentive, even going so far as to offer a shower in another room when there was an issue with mine. The breakfast, ordered the night before, was delicious and freshly cooked. The inn also provided little extras like tasty biscuits and hot chocolate.

The car parking could use clearer markings to indicate spaces.

Superb location at the end of a quiet village road. Well-equipped and clean rooms. 7th-century church opposite. Lovely walks along the river Wear. Great selection of tasty meals. Always my choice in the area.

our stay at this place was fantastic. The location, only 3 miles down the road in a nice little village, was perfect. It felt like we were off the beaten track, which meant no traffic noise and we slept really well. The service and housekeeping were top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They even left a bottle of water in the room, which was a thoughtful touch. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities we needed, from heating and tea/coffee facilities to a sitting area and terrace with garden furniture. The dining experience was also great, with a delicious menu and generous portions of good food. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were truly impressed with their level of service.

The only small downside was that we felt the room needed a bit of attention in terms of cleaning. However, this did not detract from our overall positive experience.
