The room I booked was budget-friendly but it had everything I needed. There was a TV and tea/coffee making facilities, which was a nice touch. the shower was hot and powerful, and the complimentary toiletries were a bonus. the room had a lovely view of a beautiful courtyard with a seating area and a balcony. Checking in and out was a breeze, and the staff were friendly and helpful. the location was perfect, situated in the heart of the old town near all the shops.

That the bathroom door handle and lock were fitted the wrong way around, making it difficult to close and use comfortably. However, this was a minor issue and easily fixable.

Although the room was small, we enjoyed the courtyard area. the outside seating was a nice addition, although it lacked privacy at times due to other guests being nearby. the location was perfect, close to shops in the charming old town. the staff were friendly and the contactless check-in/out process was convenient. We had the best sleep in years on the cozy bed, which felt like a giant comforting marshmallow. it was a delightful experience at Shepherd'S Purse.

There were pegs available for hanging belongings, which was useful considering the limited space. The peaceful surroundings and abundance of plants added to the overall charm.

This hotel has a truly great location, right in the heart of the old town and just steps away from the famous 199 steps. It's perfect for exploring Whitby's shops and attractions, yet tucked away from the busy shopping streets, ensuring a peaceful stay. The rooms are clean and unique, with attention to detail evident in the toiletries provided on the bed in room 3. Additionally, the shower is fantastic and there's even a jacuzzi bath for added relaxation. The breakfast served in the lovely courtyard bistro is excellent and sets you up for the day ahead.
