The staff are friendly and obliging, and the food is excellent. Guests can enjoy a beautiful hill nearby with exceptional views of the valley. there is plenty of parking available and a lovely riverside beer garden behind the inn.

The rooms are accessed via exterior stairs, which may be a minor inconvenience for guests with a lot of luggage, especially in bad weather.

However, these positives were not enough to outweigh the negatives in our overall experience at the hotel.

The room we stayed in was not what we expected. We had booked a twin room but ended up with bunk beds, which was not ideal for a couple.

The location is perfect - quiet and away from the hustle, but still easy to get to all the main places if needed. And the food here is brilliant, with great service and a focus on delicious, fresh ingredients.

The prices were reasonable, considering the quality of service and the location. Speaking of which, the hotel is nestled in a lovely location that provides a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. the beer and food options were great, with a wide variety to choose from. the meals were delicious and filling, especially the venison and cranberry sausages and the chocolate mousse with orange sorbet - they were to die for! We also enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying a few drinks before our meal, it was a perfect way to unwind.

This resulted in a camp bed being added to the room which was less than ideal. It would have been better if there was a proper bed for the third adult, especially considering the adult price we paid.

The pub was well updated while still maintaining its charming pub atmosphere. the room I stayed in was beautifully decorated with nice touches, and it was quiet, making it a great stopover from the M6. One highlight was having a bath in the room, which was perfect after a long day of travelling. the food at the pub was excellent, and they had a nice selection of ales. I also thoroughly enjoyed the superb breakfast they served. I highly recommend staying at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Kendal.
