As a solo traveler, I loved the amazing location and historic charm of this property. The views of Lake Chautauqua were wonderful, and I enjoyed exploring the building and surrounding area. The spacious interiors, grand stairways, and screened doors opening onto sitting porches created a special experience. The lobby bar offered delicious drinks and bar food, and sitting on the porch felt like a luxury. I also appreciated that they allowed dogs as I love bringing mine along on trips.

I recently stayed at the Athenaeum for a few days and it was an incredible experience. The hotel's location and charming building, along with the gated property, made me feel safe and provided a fascinating community. The grounds were exceptional, especially in the beautiful fall season. The staff was friendly and accommodating, quickly moving me to a room with a better view when I requested. The hotel's elegance and well-furnished rooms, along with a stunning lake view from the veranda, created a spectacular atmosphere.

The location of this hotel is worth the stay. With its proximity to attraction areas and bus service around the grounds, it makes exploring the area a breeze. Additionally, the price for the rooms at an off season rate is quite a steal.

We were thrilled with the prime location of this hotel, right next to Chautauqua's famous amphitheater and overlooking the beautiful lake. The old-world charm and classic Americana ambiance added to our experience. The staff was very accommodating, providing turndown service and attentive service in the dining room. The meals were delicious, although the service was a bit slow at times. we had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel was amazing, with a beautiful view of the lake. Sitting on the porch and watching the full moon rise was a memorable experience. the staff at the hotel were very responsive and the hotel itself was well maintained. the bed and linens were of excellent quality and the bathroom was modern. the hotel also had a convenient Keurig coffee machine and drinking water in the lobby, perfect for a quick cup of coffee in the morning. the fast internet was also a plus, available everywhere, including on the verandah.

On the negative side, the continental breakfast could use some improvement. It would have been nice to have more options like whole wheat breads, adult cereals, and a wider variety of fruit.

The architecture of this historic hotel is absolutely stunning, with all the charm and elegance of the Victorian Era. Breakfast was a delight, with a wide variety of pastries and delicious coffee/teas. We also appreciated the helpful recommendations for dinner outside of the hotel. The location of the hotel, within Chautauqua Institution, is simply spectacular.

This hotel is an old classic with a charming wooden porch facing the beautiful Lake Chautauqua. The location is perfect, right next to the famous amphitheater of this city. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the restaurant server who shared a lot of interesting information about the hotel and the area. The cleanliness of the hotel facilities was impressive, and I had no trouble finding parking on the circle in front of the hotel. The transportation options were convenient, with bus service available around the grounds.

During my Christmas stay, I was pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary wine and cookies in my room. the hotel's location near the lake was also a plus, providing beautiful views and easy access to outdoor activities. the staff were friendly and accommodating, which made for a welcoming atmosphere.

The rooms could use some updating and were on the smaller side, which made it a little cramped for my family of four. the dining options on-site were limited and overpriced, so we ended up eating out more often than we planned.
