The hotel had a charming and quaint atmosphere with well-maintained period furniture. the staff was helpful and quick to respond to requests for a refrigerator and light bulb. the Thanksgiving buffet was affordable and offered a variety of delicious food. the hotel's location was peaceful and provided a great opportunity for hiking and enjoying the natural surroundings.

The lack of refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms was inconvenient and unexpected. the service in the dining area, particularly in the tavern, was understaffed, resulting in long wait times and a lack of attention.

The accommodations were spotless with fresh decor. Grounds and house were enjoyable to tour, taking pictures too. Coffee in room was better than breakfast room. No parking enforcement, but friendly staff. Lovely indoor pool pavilion open late, mostly private and serene. On-site pub dining at Darby's was good. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable, property was beautiful, clean room and bathroom. Fabulous pool!

We recently stayed at a hotel in South Boston and had a great experience. the location was perfect, with easy access to the main attractions that we wanted to visit. the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We were greeted upon check-in with complimentary treats and the breakfast provided was amazing with a variety of options available. the room was well-furnished, spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. the hotel offered complimentary Wi-Fi which is a necessary amenity when traveling in the city.

The elevator was not working properly which made it difficult to access the higher floors. the hotel room only provided single-use plastic water bottles which we try to avoid using, we found this quite a disappointment.

I had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful hotel with stunning grounds and a magnificent pre-Civil War mansion. The spacious rooms were exquisitely decorated with period reproduction furniture, and some even had porches overlooking the landscaped grounds. The mansion itself was a sight to behold, with a dramatic free-standing stairway that left me in awe. If you're in the area or looking for a weekend getaway, I highly recommend making a visit to this historical property. I'll definitely be recommending this hotel.

The attached Tavern offers an exceptional dining experience, with food that rivals establishments in Richmond or DC areas. The location of the Tavern next to an open area allows for refreshing, cold air to flow in from outside. Additionally, guests can enjoy a beautiful view down to the river from certain areas of the hotel.

The gym facilities are in need of repairs and some of the equipment is not functional.
