I recently stayed at a lovely hostel in Santa Cruz for a few days. The hostel consisted of separate houses with two bathrooms in each, making it really convenient for a group of friends like us. The location was great, just a 5-minute walk to the beach. The kitchen area was big and well-equipped, and they even provided some free food. The rooms were comfortable, although a bit small for six people. What I really appreciated was the abundance of charging spots next to the beds and the hangers for drying towels and bathing suits. The security was top-notch, with daily changing passcodes for the lockers in the rooms and kitchen. And even though they didn't have on-site parking, they offered affordable day parking permits.

Can't recommend highly enough this hostel.

One staff member was rude when guests were having a barbecue outside.

One minor drawback mentioned by guests is that the hostel does not offer breakfast.

Cute, comfortable cottage with great location near beach & boardwalk. Quiet, beautiful property with lots of history. Grateful for parking on site. Minor annoyance with ants, but not a big deal. Will definitely return.

Wifi in female dorm was a letdown.

We had a lovely stay at the cozy and comfortable cottage. the location was excellent, just a short walk from the beach and boardwalk. We loved the peaceful and charming property with its rich history. Parking on the property was a huge plus as finding street parking was difficult. the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and polite. the rooms were clean and the shared facilities were well-maintained. it was one of the best vacations we've had.

We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the absence of curfew and restrictions. The rooms were comfortable and the hostel provided separate houses with two bathrooms each. As foreign tourists, we appreciated the affordable price compared to other hotels and motels that hiked up their prices during UCSC graduation weekend. If you're attending a June graduation, make sure to book at least 6 months in advance because the city sells out quickly. Santa Cruz Hostel was our best deal in town!

The environment of the hostel was very relaxing and cool, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The kitchen was well-equipped and maintained, making it easy to prepare meals. Checking in was a smooth process, and the late check-in request was accommodated readily. Additionally, the common spaces of the hostel were wonderful and provided a great atmosphere for socializing with other guests.

The area surrounding the hostel wasn't very well-lit, making it a bit troublesome to move around at night. Additionally, the WiFi didn't reach the rooms very well, although it did work in the common spaces of each house.

The prices were very reasonable compared to other hotels. The hostel had a relaxed atmosphere, with no curfew or restrictions on entering the rooms during the day. The location was fantastic, close to the boardwalk yet quiet and clean. The cottage we stayed in was spacious and well-equipped, and the social spaces with BBQ and fire-pit were great for gathering. The staff, especially Tony, were friendly and made our stay enjoyable.
