The decor felt a bit dated, with dark lighting giving it a dingy vibe. There were broken fixtures in the bathroom, and housekeeping services were minimal, with only towel replacements. Despite the charming layout of the hotel, my room could use a refreshing update.

I had a fantastic time walking around and found so many great places to eat and drink within a few steps, plus the waterfront and main sites were all walkable, making it easy to enjoy the scenery and soak up the city, with a short 10-minute stroll to the conference center; the building itself had great character, with modern conveniences and a lovely courtyard, but it could use a fridge and tea-making facilities in the room to enhance the stay.

the layout is adorable, a nice change from modern hotels. rooms have all the amenities: air conditioning, balcony, fireplace, and a kitchenette. the bathrooms are spacious and comfy. the fitness centre is a great bonus. staff is super friendly. location is perfect, close to everything. check out Salt & Whiskey for good food.

So, when we checked in at Horton Grand Hotel, one of the first things I noticed was the cozy sitting area in our room. It was perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the Gaslamp Quarter. The room itself was clean and well-maintained, with a comfy bed and a flat-screen TV for some evening entertainment. One thing I really appreciated was the friendly staff who welcomed us with a refreshing welcome drink at check-in. It was a nice touch that added to the overall experience. Now, onto the areas that could use some improvement. The room had an old moldy odor coming from the AC, which was a bit off-putting. We ended up having to keep the windows open most of the time to avoid the smell. I also found it inconvenient that the hotel didn't allow a 12pm checkout without a fee. It would have been nice to have a bit more flexibility with our departure time. the concierge services were lacking, which was surprising for a hotel in the Gaslamp district. It would have been helpful to have recommendations and assistance readily available. Horton Grand Hotel has its charm with a lovely old building and a great location.

The location is unbeatable, with everything you need just a short walk away! My suite was HUGE with a cozy fireplace and a lovely balcony. The staff went above and beyond, especially when helping me with a smoke alarm issue late at night!

The decor in our room was lovely, and the view from the balcony was a nice touch. Robert, the valet, was especially helpful, which set a positive tone upon arrival. Unfortunately, the shower's empty shampoo dispensers required an inconvenient trip to the front desk, and the $50 parking fee was unexpected, even with a handicap sticker. While the drinks at the hotel restaurant were fabulous, the noise level and thin pillows were distracting. Many little things need attention, especially the lighting—it's too harsh for a cozy atmosphere. A good stay overall, with some room for improvement.

we enjoyed exploring the vibrant streets and the fun outdoor festivities. Just 4 blocks away from the baseball stadium, it was convenient for catching a Padres game.

For dads, it would be great to have more family-friendly activities available.
